Thanks Cheery! Good grief, 2048
That's a long time away! Here's hoping that you can stop work well before that. I'm glad Mr Cheery's will be with you comparatively soon.
A pressie is a tricky one ... I'm doing the birthday/Christmas meal in May for my sister and her family. As for *things*, hmmm, I still don't really have proper walking boots, not quite, but I might also buy a modern, lightweight pair of binoculars, for when we do what will probably be our last cruise for a while, to Greenland, plus assorted days out here. I have a monocular, which is pretty good - but it's Russian, ie it's so sturdy it was probably built in Soviet times. Extremely, extraordinarily heavy, impossible to carry around
Kind of hoarse at the moment, I've had nearly 3 hours of birthday calls(so its a good reason!) been out a walk, and I'll pop out again at dusk to see the Saturn-Jupiter conjunction. Not seeing my sister today, other things have intervened, but we've already had a natter.

Hi Karma, I have no idea how much you want to spend on binoculars, but next time you are in Norfolk check out a place in Glandford near Cley. They have a fabulous selection mainly for birders but there are loads to test and you would get a feel for the weight.Mortgage Free November 2018

thank you
yes, I had a lovely day. Phoning, walking, I *did* go out to look for the Jupter-Saturn conjunction (didn't see it, but I just managed a peek at the New Moon, very big, glorious) and I actually got round to drinking some alcohol, woo, a big glass of cava. Pootling around on here for a while right now, not going to rush into action, but very happy with the way the week has gone
