I thought this little chap was an actual washing machine for a moment 😱
I like it!
Nothing remotely interesting to write, today is literally a continuation of yesterday, except that I have one present still in the house that needs to be wrapped, and my phone call replying to my Glasto friend just got more interesting - the name of his new partner has been added to his Christmas cardI met him through his wife, originally, she was my best friend for a long time, died about 5 years ago. I'm just so glad he's expanded into his own life again

I love that your friend has expanded his life. The people we bought this house from were both widowed and confided that they were not married and had no intention of doing so, in order to protect their legacy and that of their former spouse to their children - I did recommend this to my Mum (now 91) each time she received at least two offers following my father's death but she was resistant along the lines of "what would x say" - a generational thing I thinkSave £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)
OS Grocery Challenge in 2025 I am at £1286.68/£3000 or 42.89% of my annual spend so far

Thanks both
The "not married" when getting together lateish on in life is interesting - my mum's best friend (she's in her mid-90s now) from the time they were both evacuees in rural England, was widowed but afterwards lived with her partner for many years, without ever marrying him. Her only child lived down in London so it's been his kids (adult kids!) who've helped her with things as she's got older, she's fully accepted into the family by all subsequent generations. And they were Catholic too! Which really, really mattered in Liverpool at the timeSectarianism not quite as bad as Glasgow, but not far off. I've never heard of another couple like them, though there must be a minority who did the same, they can't be completely unique.

I took the day off yesterday for little celebrations - early birthday meal with my sister at her house, she used a Delia recipe for mushroom risotto that was very successful
JL were absolute stars, and delivered everything to her house, way ahead of when we thought they were going to, so I got everything ready - paper, sellotape, tags, it was brilliant. And I can now legitimately replenish my stocks of Christmas cards, wrapping paper and tags, very happy with that, it was getting a bit boring
Today, there's some washing to do, dw to ready, I want to finish the Christmas cards today, and then I'm going to clean the remaining shopping, and then the house. RT's comment about cleaning the floor after cleaning all the shopping has stuck with me, because I don'tI'm not stressing about it - the "deadline" is the end of Sunday (or possibly the end of Monday, as I'll want to give myself a day off
) Hmmm, next Tuesday is green bin day, and I want some stuff in there. Basically, I just need to do what I can - all of it adds to my quality of life and the maintenance of my property, so whatever I do is basically okay

Not bad yesterday: didn't do half of that list, of course, but only 4 Christmas cards remain, and they have their addresses and stamps, so I'll be able to do those today.
Also had a play at Boots online - portable little pressie for the Norfolk rellies, plus lots of vit D, and I'm experimenting with some of those cheapoid reading glasses? If nothing else, they'll protect my eyes "when" I'm in crowds and I'm using a facemask.
Spent down time collating some online information I wanted to store on the computer, partly about tidying up my bookmarks - but had *such* a bad sleep, argh - I'd been wearing socks during the day, as you do, and when I took them off, I started itching like crazy, for hours - awful! They'd been stored in the drawer for a long time, they may have got a bit dusty, and my crazy skin genetics went bonkers. Hey ho. Not terrible, in the current state of play.
Today:
- those last four Christmas cards
- work on getting the washing dry, the house is rather full of draped goods!
- go a walk: I might do it as it gets dark, actually, to see the Christmas lights locally, I've done that with my walking group in previous years, and its lovely. I really need the exercise.2023: the year I get to buy a car6 -

I did those four today, actually got them in the box. So now there's two I need to hand deliver, one of which has a nice bottle of wine with it, for my green bin neighbour.
I set upon the most humongous cleaning session after that! Nothing really intense to be honest, but I swept nearly all the downstairs, and skimmed the stairs and my bedroom - plus the washing is drying off, the dishwasher is packed again so that the work surface above it is clear, AND I made frugal brownies AND remembered to put baking powder in as well as reducing the sugar by a third, as I'm using up plain flour and I don't like sugar so much any more. I'm a goddess, I tell youMy time is my own again! I might actually get a proper walk tomorrow, rather than a skip and a jump.
Night night all.
