Hi Karma, just dropping by to say hello. I've just dusted off my diary for the traditional review of the year, so I'll be around for the next couple of weeks.
If I recall correctly, it's your birthday very soon, if I also recall correctly, this one triggers a significant event? (apologies if I've aged you a couple of years!)Early retired - 18th December 2014
If your dreams don't scare you, they're not big enough4 -
Goldie! Hiya! No jumpy smiley these days, so ...
how lovely to see you! You're absolutely right about the birthday, that's very impressive
the Pension Service have written to me that the first 4 weeks pension money will land in my account in mid January
I was chatting at lunchtime and since *that* birthday is hoving into view, I decided I had time to go on a quick, fast walk before the kids thronged out of school. So I did - people around me have lost weight, and I haven't, I'm only just fitting into my clothes, so this is the start of the turnaround.
I'll hop over to your diary now

Hope the walk went well! It was a gloriously sunny afternoon.
I even donned sunglasses to work at my desk which faces a large window.4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! That's a good idea, RT - I should remember that. Walk was great, very sunny as you say, I walked at a good speed too, as that's most helpful to me. Best of all, I went out straight after chatting to my friend, so I got a full hour's walk before the kids got out of school and took over the pavements
Fencer has emailed me this evening - he can't do the work for me before Christmas, but I'm first on his list for the new year. Ahem, gives me more time to carry on getting rid of the rooted weeds

A couple of shopping queries this morning: I'm supposed to have an Asda delivery this afternoon - amended the order yesterday, and got a confirmation email, though in the afternoon I got a "reminder" email that used the old shopping basket. And yesterday evening/ this morning, I've had no "we're on our way etc" email, I don't actually know if they're going to turn up or not.
Plus I forgot to order stamps! Which are going up massively on 1st January. And I don't want to go into a post office, so I've been checking online for delivery - free delivery only starts at Royal Mail if the basket is over £50, which is too much these days, I just don't send that many stamps. Viking Direct do stamps with a minimum free delivery of £30, which is more like it, though their trustpilot reviews aren't fantastic (92%). If anyone knows different, please let me know2023: the year I get to buy a car6 -

That will be a big monthly pay rise for you in the new year, so that is something to look forward too. I remember when Mr Goldie got his state pension back in October 2016. We had been chugging along quite happily, but the extra money was very welcome, and the extra money coming in each month finally made me feel really secure about managing in retirement.
Unbelievably, this week marks the 6th anniversary of our retirement. It has gone so quickly. I will get my state pension in just under five and a quarter years time, so if the last few years are any indication, it will go in a flash.
Hope your Asda order turns up ok. I managed to get a Sainsbury's slot for 10pm next Monday. I've never had a delivery so late in the evening before, and it's at the back of my mind that there'll be a glitch. If so, we will have time to go out and buy things in person, but I haven't actually been into Sainsbury's since April and they've had a refurb since then - I doubt if I'd be able to find anything!Early retired - 18th December 2014

Oh good, I did remember correctly. I was worried that you might still only be 64, and I had aged you!

Absolutely - literally the only income I've had since I retired (August 2016! Good grief!) is the interest on savings accounts (I never count the French rental income, because it just sits over in France to pay the bills). I'm going to have a celebration with my sister and her kids in May, my shout, and their pressies have been better than usual this year, as well as my brother's.

It's so good that you're enjoying it so much, and that you were able to retire so early, without depriving yourself, thats a big achievement.

Frozen and chill food cleaned and packed away, and I decided to let this lot sit there too, I just leapt in the shower
I'd already cleaned the other lot that was left over from the previous delivery

Glad you got your delivery KC (pah to the gloves though). Very exciting about your pension! I confess whenI spotted your post at lunchtime I nipped over to the Gov website to see when I'd get mine
2048!!
Fortunately Mr Cheery's will be with us in just under 9 years so maybe I'll retire then and we'll live off that
Are you planning a present for yourself??5
