Hmmm. I think my laptop is on the blink, and possibly my kindle too ... both of them are showing indicators that aren't correct - amount of charge, switching between mouse and mousepad (but not both), tabs (especially the £ and the @) switching around arbitrarily, not showing my flash drive when I insert it to back up. Plus I'm still on Windows 7, and I had a notice from Microsoft that it won't be supported from next January. I know you can go a while on unsupported devices, but not forever. I also cleaned the keyboard a little vigorously :o and pulled off the top of one of the keys :o Each thing is fixable, but together they add up to quite a big red flag, mostly for the laptop - the kindle has only just started growling at me :rotfl:

That's the three things then hopefully Karma! Hope you manage to resolve them all!

If you need reviews off anything from Which, you can get cash back for your £1 month-long trial (which exceeds the £1!) or your library might have access (if it's easy to get to). I've used it at mine a couple of times and is really handy (and good to feel the resources are being used!).

Thanks for that tip, madvix - I'll explore that.

Nice long chat with my sister, back from Canada, plus arranging the weekend, plus an hour in the garden - still not really digging the next weedcrop, but certainly cutting things back, both my perennials and the brambles. And things are starting to go in the compost bin :)

I'm still using Windows 7 too and have had a couple of those messages about support being withdrawn :(. I know I'll need to upgrade from this laptop next year, its pretty old now but I do back up photos and important files anyway just in case. Am hoping it last until I can afford a new one :p.

Teapot's post got me thinking about photos. There are loads on this computer. Yet I never look at them. I wondered if it is just another form of clutter? Was it easier when I took a film, used it up, processed it and popped the best 3 or 4 in an album?
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!

I back up my photos onto an external hard disc drive, and I have some family photos (maybe 300) distributed around family. I *do* tend to take too many these days! Like at Wisley the other day, snappity snappity snap. OTOH, still needing to hang out doing nothing a fair amount of time, I do still look at them, once they're downloaded into a named file. Though I'm seeing that a lot of the snaps of greenery tend to look the same after a certain whle :p

    Right, I need a to-do list today:
    - phone repair man again, leave my mobile number this time - I had a missed call that may have been him.
    - send a birthday card to ex-partner, with a note, ages since I've had contact.
    - pop out to get a little bit of easy-to-arrange fresh food, go to Waitrose, they'll have some nice stuff :)
    - sort a list of email addresses to contact about the 78rpm records, I've arranged the list in a slightly more logical order.
    - pay French taxes, got to be done before the end of the month, better to do it now.
    - while I'm about it, there's a new log on to the French management company, I'd better set that up, check if there's anything I owe, their paperwork is incomprehensible, so the only thing I trust is their website!

Plus rearranging my day, more or less: I do garden work mid-afternoon, that's now too late to give me the slightest chance of going out again. So if I'm at home, I need to do a bit during the morning, even if I then do the main work during the afternoon.

    Done.

Done, and I even posted it :p

Nope, not going to do this - I have a chilled orange juice that I think is okay, I can push the boat out and chop up an onion, with that and the tinned stuff, I'm good for today. I'm off out tomorrow, so thats all right.

    - sort a list of email addresses to contact about the 78rpm records, I've arranged the list in a slightly more logical order.
Not done this yet, I want to get out in the garden (didn't manage that this morning).

    Done.

Done. I think - Its just a new shell and new website ID, everything else is the same, and it still says I'm in credit by nearly 90 euros, which I think I'm going to send an email about, its been nearly six months.

Out into the garden now :)

    Me too :kisses3: I have more ta-das too :D

    1. Repair man phoned again after my 2nd message(left me a message yesterday that my phone didn't tell me about) he's recommended switching it on again since it's been off for 48 hours: if it works, great, if not, it's probably dead. Top bloke: not trying for a callout fee to tell me that.
    2. I really did chop an onion :rotfl: and chucked in some lentils as I was frying it. Amazing :D
    3. Bit of digging, lots of garden waste in the bin, I've been given license to fill up the green bin again :)
    4. Got an email about the domain expiry for my self employment work, I kept it for a long time because my partner retired well after me. It's expiring next month, and on auto expire, but last time that was ignored and they took the money anyway. I got it back :D but I don't want to go through all that palaver again, so I sent a ticket in, explaining ).

Still got to email the French management company, and find email addresses for the record sales, but thats okay. At the moment, I've moved to Westeros  and I'm enjoying it there  /nerdalert
