Yep...friend had a smile on her face when she realised that those trousers were obviously pretty good quality ones.

    Absolutely to the flat stomach:T

In some ways I feel I don't have to be quite so conscious of the need for a flat stomach as when I was young enough that there might (in other peoples opinion:cool:) be another reason for a bulging stomach. When I was of an age where a woman might conceivably be pregnant - I made darn sure I always had a flat stomach (to prove I wasnt iyswim).

Even though I'm post-menopausal now and no-one but no-one would ever wonder - I still want my flat stomach back. But it's nice to be visibly getting nearer to having that again:). I do remember the first time years back that I was lying on my back and realised I could feel my hip bones very clearly and it was a washboard flat stomach in between them. Just trying to recall whether it was at the lowest weight I've ever been (which was 7stone 12lbs - and bang at the bottom edge of desirable weight range OR at 8stone 7lbs I normally used to be).
  • Hello Ladies,

It has been a trying week for me. The cold weather seems to make my Arthritis more painful but I had quite a few necessary errands to run this week, so I had to go out in the cold weather more than I would have liked. :(

My washing machine turned out to be not financially worth repairing so I had to take £300 from my £2,000 holiday savings to pay for a new washing machine. I am awaiting delivery this morning. So the £90 call out fee I paid last week has turned out to be wasted money. :( The local electrical store were sympathetic about the call out charge I paid for a repair that turned out not to be viable, so the owner of the store took £20 off the price of the new model of washing machine I bought and he waived the £20 fee to disconnect and responsibly recycle the old washing machine and the £20 delivery and connection fee for the new washing machine. It was a relief to fork out £60 less than I could have been paying. :D

My Employment and Support Allowance Appeal is on 7th December, so I asked Fightback4Justice about someone from their organisation accompanying me to the Court for my Appeal and was flabbergasted to be told that I would have to pay £350 for that service!!!! I was given time to think it over, but I knew right away that I would not be availing myself of this service. I cannot afford that kind of money to have expert support on the day I go to Court for my Appeal, so I have no choice but to manage on my own. :(

I have had to pay out so much money in the last 2 weeks and I hate to see my savings being depleted but it has been necessary spending. :(

I plan to start selling items on eBay from this Sunday to try to raise money to put back into my savings account. :)

I am going to Birmingham to visit my sisters from Saturday 8th December until Sunday 16th December. I will be going to a Christmas Dinner Dance with 3 of my sisters in Birmingham and having a week of relaxation and fun with them, so I am really looking forward to my mini break with family. :j:D
  • Good morning lovely ladies

Bonus post from me. I am using the trains WiFi. A first for me, I even managed to suss out how to do it myself. Finally getting to grips with the 21st century. :D

SUgarbaby...enjoy your break with your family. You have certainly earned it, after all your trials and tribulations. Such a shame you have had to dip into your savings but knowing you and how resourceful you can be I'm sure you will be able to replenish the savings pot in time for your holiday.

The railway carriage is cold round my legs...I'm going to have to put my coat over them, otherwise 3 hours sitting in the cold and my knees will be in agony. As SUgarbaby says Arthritis and cold damp weather are not good bedfellows.

Ok just covered up my legs. The beauty of trains as opposed to planes is that there is a lot more leg room and more opportunities to get up and stretch your legs. So at least I can move about and hopefully I won't seize up.

If I had known it would be this cold though I would have put some thermal tights on.....hey ho. Another lesson learned.

    Have a great weekend......

Thanks for keeping in touch LL . Hopefully you'll have wifi again and be able to tell us about your adventures.:)

Sorry to hear about your bad week sugarbaby . I know you'll rebuild your savings so it's good that you had that buffer to replace the washing machine. It does help to have something to look forward to so your pre-Christmas break in Birmingham is a great idea. :)

I'm disappointed to hear about the charge for the representation for the appeal . Like the legal system, it seems you have to have money to get proper access to the system. It's not fair. I know you are confident and articulate but it's still not right. I'm sure you've thought of it but there may be online advice about how to present your case and I know there's a Benefits board on here that might be helpful. Rooting for you. :)

I've been out for lunch and the theatre with friends today. Interesting stage production of Rebus with the actor who was Jim McDonald in Coronation Street in the lead role. I wore a long, pale grey silk skirt with a charcoal top (Gap from CS) with a black jacket and black velvet scarf. So a mix of fabrics and textures. I like the mix of dress up and down pieces. The skirt is quite warm as although it's silk and floaty on top it's lined with a soft cotton jersey.

It's all go at the moment. St Andrew's tea dance tomorrow. :)

    Hi fabbers,

I hope you are all well. I have kept up with the thread, but haven’t had the chance to post.

Maman your outfit for the play sounds lovely.

Ll I have enjoyed your home fabbing updates, it all is very exciting.

Sugar good luck with your appeal.

I have a busy, but fun weekend. Today, me and DS spent some quality time together at a football match, whilst OH and DD has some quality time (involving DD spending all of her DAds money!!). Tomorrow, we have lots of family members coming round for dinner.
  • Hello Ladies,

Thank you for your good wishes. :D

My run of bad luck has not ended. When I went into the kitchen just now I realised that my new washing machine has developed a horrible grating sound while in operation. There is nothing I can do over the weekend except continue to use it and talk to the owner of the electrical shop I bought it from on Monday. As the shop is now closed for the weekend. I cannot let the washing machine stand idle until Monday as I need to clear the backlog of washing. I dread to think what is wrong with it a few hours after I began to use it. :(

I am working my way through some Benefit Threads which are giving me useful information about ESA Appeals. Thank you for pointing me in the right direction, I will gather as much factual information as I can before the date of my Appeal from these threads and from Fightback4Justice.

  • I was feeling pleased with myself on Friday, weighed myself and I'd put on a couple of pounds so was back to the weight when I last saw doctor and he suggested I need to put on a few pounds so I hadn't gained anything but at least I hadn't lost any. Weekend found me with a horrible D&V bug so I've spent most of the weekend feeling awful, throwing up and definitely not eating so now I've lost the 2 pounds I'd managed to regain and another one for luck. I'm hoping it is mainly dehydration and if I manage to eat and drink today it will right itself.

I'm feeling OK now, just a bit weak and wobbly and I'm definitely not looking fab. If I was going out I'd put some make up on as a bit of colour would definitely help but I can't be bothered so just going to sit here and feel sorry for myself. At least it is a good excuse to eat cake, chocolate and chips which might cheer me up but I'm not quite up to it yet.
  • Hello

I am new to the boards, and have skimmed a few of the pages on this thread. The kick up the bum that I need.

I was in a horrible relationship for over 11 years, now is the time for me to reclaim me, and be the woman I want to be. First, I have to stop looking like the bag lady on a bad day. But I have to do it on a budget!
