I watched a programme on Evolution and apparently sweating is what made us good hunters. Fascinating stuff, apparently animals don't sweat, they pant when they are hot but can't pant when running so if a hunter is chasing them they overheat before the hunter. Evolution is really amazing and it was interesting to find out these interesting facts.0

LL I'm well jel of you going to sunnier climes. When I was working, I was always away.Goa was my fave place, n we used to go for a month at a time.Happy days:o
I know you used to have a place in Spain.Wherabouts was it? I keep looking for the future, as I can't imagine getting old here:(
My friend's in Tenerife at the mo, n they've had horrific rain n storms
Just watching a place in the sun again .A girl can dream :rotfl:"You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf"

You had those conifers cut at just the right time LL. What a lovely prospect of daylight flooding in.:)
I'm another that's envious of your trip. But we're off to India in February so that's something to look forward too.:)
Welcome Wednesday. I love your plan. I really ought to commit some of my own goals to paper. It'll be good to hear about your journey as you get fabber and fabber!:D
I opened and put away my gifts from Clinique and Benefit earlier. It's pretty but there is so much packaging.:( Like you sft, I really must start using my make up a bit more. As we've had such lovely weather almost endlessly since June I've been wearing the lightest of 'summer' make up. I think it's time to start back on the tinted moisturiser.;)
You can look at old clothes two ways money. I agree with keeping things you really like and hope to aspire to fitting back into. I did that with my velvet coats and some evening wear. I definitely got rid of some old 'fat' clothes when I lost weight though. Fortunately they weren't really expensive and were quite well worn as I didn't buy much and begrudged paying good money for things I'd been forced to buy principally because they fit.:o
I did go to Wilko and Dunelm yesterday. No suitable trees so the one from The Range stays. Enjoyed a browse but all I bought was a shelf organiser.

It's really good for the price. I now have them (or similar from Ikea) in all the necessary kitchen cupboards (mugs, glasses etc.) but I'm so impressed I'm going to get one for my storecupboard. I liked their fridge organisers too but I'm happy with my mushroom punnets.:money:
Hair appointment today. Ironically my hair looks really good today but I know if I leave it longer (no pun intended;)) my fringe will get straggly. I'd like her opinion on whether I need highlights soon too.:)0 -
I have those shelf organisers, I love them. I could probably do with fridge organisers I'm using icecream tubs at the moment but they aren't an ideal size. Off to have a look.0

Our property was in SAn Pedro del Pinatar. St. Peter of the Pines. Just at the north end of the Mar Menor, 10 minutes from Murcia airport, about an hour south from Alicante.
Yes we were going to semi retire there .......Hey Ho. In the words of the old Rolling Stones song......" You can't always get what you want". And, as my old crush, John Lennon said. "Life happens when you're busy making other plans" .
I don't think I will ever buy abroad again but I would definitely consider a lease. You can rent two bedroom apartments for as little as 300 euros a month in low season, so family could come and stay too. Although Spain can be nippy in January and February. Last time I looked there were loads of 6 month leases going. If I were to lease I could ring the changes, try different places.
I fancy a few months in Italy. And Madeira would be good. My niece goes to Malta for 4 months. She loves it.
I think if you want real heat you probably need to look a bit further. Goa sounds wonderful. I have friends who go to Thailand for a month every winter. They love it.
I know I sound like a wimp but I would need to really pluck up courage to go that far on my own. A bit too far out of my comfort zone at the moment. Maybe one day. Need to get to grips with flying too. Maybe when I've had all my dental work done.
Well dentist wasn't too bad......As I suspected I need a couple of small fillings but she said I could either have them done Friday or wait until after the holiday. I thought Friday was too near my travel date so I've plumped for when I get back.
I find it takes a couple of weeks for things to settle down again after treatment so I'll take a chance......(famous last words:eek::rotfl:). But as I am mainly in Europe where dentists are both plentiful and dentistry is sophisticated I should be ok. It's places like Russia or the Amazon where you don't want to be searching for emergency treatment. :rotfl:
I still haven't made a final decision about implants ....maybe if I bury my head in the sand the issue will go away. :rotfl:
Right going to sling a chilli in the slow cooker and then go for a massage.0 -
Maman. I watched one of those Shop and Save programmes the other day. They did a comparison of gift sets and buying the same items seperately. The difference in price was astonishing.
To keep it fair they compared like with like in the same store. The seperate items came in way cheaper. As they said, just buy one of those pretty gift bags....
Wednesday......forgot to say Hi and welcome. Some great goals.0 -
MAMAN , whereabouts in India are you going? You lucky Moo:D"You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf"

I'm surprised by that. I think you probably need to do your homework (I was always good at Maths:D) first as not all sets are such good value. As an example, I paid £39.50 for my Benefit set. It has a full size moisturiser (£34) and a full size eyebrow primer (£24) in it plus a travel size eye cream and serum. I use all the products so I'm quids in. The Clinique set isn't available online anymore, probably because it was such brilliant value. I paid £35 and got a moisturiser, eye cream, mascara and lipstick.
This is our first trip to India candygirl so we're doing the usual Golden Triangle tourist thing. I've booked through Riviera tours as, although most of our trips we do independently, I know them to be very good at arranging things to make the best use of the time available. We did their Classical Spain tour and it was super. Any tips or hints about India I'd love to hear them.:)
Off to hairdressers.:)0 -
MAMAN, I've only been to Goa which is much different than the "real" India, but you'll be shocked, amazed and excited by it :DGet a good guidebook, research online etc, before you go xx"You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf"

LL have you tried the website blockers... i used it to limit my internet to half an hour when needing to increase productivity. Sometimes i block my main sites for procrastination. I would highly recommend it.
Money- i still have loads of stuff from years ago. I Just try and let go of the things that are a little scuffed or are harder to care for like linen. If i kept it just in case and never really used it, I let it go. I had a green linen dress that i only wore a few times and despite 8 years, i think i gave it a good chance. I like to give away old but still wearable dresses that work for interviews and the like. Keep what is stunning, excellent quality and timeless is my goal.0
