Speaking of bras.....they had some lovely underwear in Asda. Gorgeous colours. Unfortunately no strapless ones so I have to go into the city centre tomorrow.......
  • My DD was looking for a strapless bra, she found one in M&S that was just the job. Might be worth a look.

Matalan are quite good for bras - a good range of the more 'generous' sizes too.
Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle

    Good afternoon lovely ladies.

Thanks for the bra tips. Got them from M&S. two for £28. Bargains, one flesh coloured, one black. Perfick.

Also bought a pair of canvas deck shoes for knocking about in and a pair of black sequinned ballet slippers. Ideal for evening wear if I don't want to wear heels.

Sometimes heels and long dresses are not a good idea on board if the sea is a bit choppy so pretty ballet flats are just the ticket under a long dress or with my new jump suit.

Also bought an extra pack of night nurse:rotfl:

still feeeling a bit groggy. In fact I thought I was going to pass out in M&S. Mind it was very hot in there and I think I'm running a bit of a temperature anyway.

Just had a quick snack, going to start packing now, and then maybe a little nap later.

Sorry to hear you're still feeling rough LL. Still better this week than next.:)

Thanks for the bra update. I really need to replace mine but I've found it difficult to find what I'm looking for. I have 3 at the moment (black/ white and flesh) but they're ancient. Mine are the bandeau type and unstructured but they're so well washed that I worry about wearing them with anything but the most structured of dresses (if that makes sense?).

Had a lovely walk this morning (brisk for about an hour) and then coffee with friends. It's been much milder today as there's been no wind although I did wrap up warmly just in case.

This afternoon I've sat down sewing up a sort of 'granny blanket'. Very therapeutic. It's just the basic knitted squares but I haven't made it to go over my knees or shoulders!:D We have an inherited easy chair in the dining room which is DH's favourite place for reading. The chair was looking a bit tired although perfectly serviceable and comfortable. As I have multi-coloured dining chairs I've picked out the colours along with black and cream squares to make a throw to go over the chair. It'll inject some more colour into the room and cover the chair up a bit. I really enjoy knitting but have no need for knitted jumpers. I've made Aran cushion covers before. I need to think of another useful project.:)

So today's been quiet but the weekend will be much more hectic and definitely fabbing to do. I'm out Saturday (lunch and theatre), Sunday (dancing) and Monday (pre Christmas meal with friends) so plenty of outfits to plan and definite call for make up.

I'm being tempted by another Benefit gift set from Boots.:think::think:

  • That sounds lovely maman. The last time I made up a blanket it was squares knitted by brownies. I had to crochet the pieces together and try to make them fit. It was a work of art. You'd be amazed at what a brownie can do with a bit of wool, some knitting needles and strict instructions about the size and shape.

Yet another pair of earrings bought in the week - I've reorganised them neatly and that's 9 pairs I've bought recently in total of costume jewellery ones. Black dangly - look like jet. Will do nicely for my style of dressing - ie "Something basic - dressed up or down accordingly" for the dressing-up angle on that.

Weight must still be going down - as my measurements are. Two pleased thoughts for yesterday being "My stomach is not far off being back to flat again:D". Re-tried on a label (ie vanity) size 12 clingy jersey type dress I bought at a recent carboot sale and there's only a little bit of bulge now at stomach and midriff - so I'll be able to wear it soon for the first time:D. So I'm nearly (real) size 14 again.

Other pleased thought being "Hang on a minute - I walked up and down that flight of stairs to get to one of my dance classes without being reminded of the existence of my knees this week. Just did so without thinking - as per normal again". Yay - are my knees back to normal again at last?:D

Think I must have gone down underneath that 10 stone barrier somewhere and am probably now in the "9 stone something-or-other" range again. Target is the 8stone 7 lbs (absolute maximum 8stone 12 lbs). But 10 stone barrier is a major one to cross.:T

It was encouraging yesterday to see a little mini video that's circulating on the Net of where a woman got her elderly mother to try on her wedding dress - and it still fitted perfectly. Mother got married in 1953 and has had children since then - and she is still exactly the same size by the look of it (gone from slim and attractive to just slim - but she is still slim and much the same shape). "There ya' go - it IS possible to stay the same measurements (at least for some people) - I knew it was. There's my proof" thought me. So that's encouragement I should be able to get back to normal.

    Hello lovely ladies.

Well I'm all packed and ready to go. Train at 9.50 tomorrow morning so not ridiculously early. Plumber is already here and has made a start. Treated him (and myself) to a Cornish pasty for lunch. A once in a blue moon treat for me.

It's been miserable here and it's getting dark very early. Mind it's only a month now till the solstice so dont suppose we can expect much daylight for the next few weeks. Glad I don't live in Norway.

Money. You seem to be doing very well with weight/inch loss. Well done.

Maman. Those knitted Arran cushion covers sound fab. I can't knit for toffee. :rotfl:

Still feeling a tad delicate, the night nurse was a mistake.....I'll spare you the gory details. :rotfl: And my knee hasn't enjoyed the damp day.......Anyway I'm sure I'll perk up in a day or two. A few days in the sun and I am sure I'll be back on top form.

Right time for dinner, clean the fridge whilst it's cooking and then I'm all done.

Look after yourselves, have fun, and keeeeep fabbing.

I'm due back on 8th December and then it's only a hop, skip and a jump until Christmas. And Bingo, another year gone.

:D Had two more "You look nice" comments from friends today:D.

Well - that's 5 compliments in recent weeks. Rather better than the zilch compliments I've had in the years since moving here:D. Apart from my best friend back in my home city - who is very prone to making compliments to me regardless:rotfl:

So I must be visibly "upping my game".

Reading a book currently about French womens chic - and first decision made - and a pair of not-exactly-cheap trousers (ie they're linen) my mother passed on to me and I've not worn yet ('cos I'm still rather bigger than her at present) and I thought "Nope - I like capri length trousers - but I don't think they would look right on me at my short height and pale skin". So they're going out the door with me tonight - too good to donate to a charity shop - but friend I'm seeing tonight said she'd like them...

Bon Voyage LL. I'm sure you'll have a really great time.:)

It's a real confidence boost to have compliments money . Although we're doing this for ourselves it is good when others notice.:D

I think it's a great idea to donate the trousers to a friend. I'm getting far more conscious lately of recycling when it comes to clothes. I've been thinking about MK for a while and trying only to buy essentials and things that (in her words) give me joy. Alongside that I'm happy that I've indulged myself by having a treat from the CS when I find something I like. Lots of my favourite clothes are from the CS and when I was losing weight it helped me to experiment cheaply with colours and buy stuff that would only fit for a short while.

I've probably posted before that I only weigh about every two months and in between I use my clothes to keep me in check. Clean jeans are a good guide! :D Flat stomach is another money .

I've made a bit of an effort today. Just went out for coffee and some shopping. I'm still to wear any foundation /tinted moisturiser since before the summer. Maybe tomorrow. ;)
