Well I have got a stinking cold......feel awful. Managed to get to the plumbers merchants and then a quick whizz round Sainsbury's but thats it, I'm done for.
Electrician coming later so going to try and have a nap before he comes. See if I can sleep it off. I hardly slept last night.
BTW. 25% of all Tu clothing, bought a cobalt blue velvet wrap dress and a dark grey lurex jump suit. Will be nice for the cruise and also the festive season.0 -
True - that it's really only worth keeping reasonable quality clothes - and not "just anything" imo.
Another pair of costume jewellery earrings added to my collection today. I have the feeling I've probably bought around 10 pairs of costume jewellery earrings over the last couple of months:rotfl:.
Struggling with increased appetite at the moment. So that was a bit extra food I wanted "not to want" yesterday and the appetite is playing up a bit today too. Don't know if that's because it's colder weather at the moment? Looks like I'd better have early dinner to try and "shut it up" and, if that doesn't work then stuff down a bowl of couscous/assorted fruit/fat-free yogurt and that should do the trick.
I don't believe in going hungry - so this appetite increase is proving distinctly inconvenient.
Must look out my scales soon - so that I can weigh myself, as well as measure myself and go by how my clothes are. I would say that, at a guess, I'm expecting to come in around 9 stone 6lbs - 9 stone 13 lbs (based on my measurements and the way that I'm someone that goes down a dress size per 8-10 lbs weight lost).
So I've probably breached that significant weight barrier of being beneath 10 stone again. Guessing I'm somewhere between 1 stone, 2lbs and 1 stone, 6 lbs overweight at the moment.
More reorganisation of my wardrobe now and fine-tuning it and deciding on how to "mix and match" to make up outfits. At least it's convenient that my "Home City" style isn't glitzy or anything. It's more decent-quality basics and dress it down or dress it up according to occasion - so I'd say it's a more "accessories" based way of dressing than in many areas - which suits me and my tastes. I'd say our way is more along the lines of I've got, for instance, a totally plain, short-sleeved maxi-length jersey "little black dress". So - for that way of dressing, then I can either wear totally as is with just couple of small inconspicuous real gold items of jewellery OR tuck it inside a hippie style maxi skirt and whack on some hippie style accessories or just "glam" very slightly with slightly dressy type accessories. What we don't do is go and buy very "evening-y" type dresses that could only be worn of an evening and often too dressy for that even - it's more a style that the Base Clothing can have a quick few changes made and swop to student/academic style or business-style etc iyswim.0 -
Sorry to hear you're feeling under the weather LL. Hope you improve before your holiday.
Have you tried 'First Defence' by Vicks. I have used it with great success as it seems to stop the cold in it's tracks.
Thanks for the heads up re TU clothing, i need some bits & bobs.0 -
I've got a new gardener. He's coming to cut all the bushes back next week and will go grass cutting next year. One worry out of the way.
I second Lucy's idea of Vicks First Defence, Boots does an own label version as well which is a bit cheaper.0 -
Thanks for the First Defence tip. I'll get some tomorrow. I crashed out on the sofa and the electrician woke me up, still feel woozy and headachey but the sleep has helped.
I have got some night nurse for tonight so hopefully I'll get a better night. It's only Tuesday and I don't travel till Saturday so I'm sure I'll pick up by then.
Im meeting a friend for coffee tomorrow but other than that I've nothing planned. There's nothing spoiling so I can take it easy for a couple of days. It won't take me long to pack, I can do that Friday.
Im not Going to bother blitzing the house like I normally do before I go away because the building works are only going to create dust. Having said that, Andy, my plumber, is a very tidy and considerate workman. He will clean up after the work is done and will do his best to contain the mess and not allow the other contractors to tramp it all through the house.
Good you found a Gardener, Humpty. One thing less to worry about. You've got enough on your plate.
I suppose I ought to think about dinner but I'm not very hungry. Must be ill, not like me to go off my grub. :rotfl:0 -
I'm up to page 20 of this thread.:D I will read some more pages today.
I still have a cold too, I might ask my husband to buy some Vicks first defence later, thanks for the tip.
I used my footspa yesterday and put cream on my feet and then later had a bubble bath where I shaved my legs and put on body cream afterwards. I did a face mask and put on a serum as my skin has been sensitive from blowing my nose all the time!:D
I just went for a walk to the shop and put on one of my best outfits. That isn't saying very much!:rotfl: Short black dress with a black jumper and leggings and boots and an M&S dark red waterfall cardigan on top. I really need some new clothes!
I came home and have just ordered some new bras. I have lived in those stretchy ones for a couple of years as I was in pain but now I'm not in pain I want some nicer bras to wear!:)
I bought an Electric Vibrating Sonic Facial and Body Cleansing Brush from Amazon and I'm going to try that out this weekend.:cool:0 -
Wednesday - and anyone else suffering g with a sore nose from a drippy cold. I use lip salve all round my nose at night and it really helps the soreness & redness. It also stops the dryness too!Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0

Oh good point.
I just told hubbie to get the Vicks stuff on his lunch break too. That outfit sounds lovely hun:DI'm wearing front fastening granny bras at the mo, purely for comfort, n I'm not bothered:rotfl:
I thought front fastening bras were meant to be quite sexy.:rotfl:
I am trying to lose more weight and the bras I bought might not fit soon but I can always try and use the tighter fastenings or donate them. I'm 42 F at the moment, eek!2025 GOALS

Good evening lovely ladies.
Wow. Wednesday you have made a cracking start. Your outfit sounds great.
Had a lovely time with my friend, not seen her for a while so a nice catch up.
Bathroom quote in.....£8k. Ouch. But as I've explained it's a massive amount of work. I could save a lot of money by not having underfloor heating but that's non negotiable.
It's also costing more because of the amount of additional pipework required and upgrading the electrics and of course I have tried to ensure that everything is future proofed with space for bathing aids should I need them so that I can age in situ.
And it is going to look pretty fab. :rotfl:
I will just have to claw back the overspend by economising on some of the other works.0
