Dull start to morning here but it has been lovely to get cool nights. Enjoying being back in our own upstairs bedroom.
Been looking at our forecast and although the temperature is going to be around 20c most days the sun isn't going to be putting in an appearance very often. Some rain forecast for some nights though.
We did some gardening yesterday and even though we had had 24hrs of rain the soil didn't seem damp. Grass was looking greener though and probably needing cut soon.
So sad about the pony Alfie. Some people don't even report knocking down other people so I suppose we shouldn't be too surprised.
Fresh strawberries sound great rose. We have been enjoying lots of fruit since we got home. Had really been enjoying neighbour's rhubarb too but think that is it for this year.
Have a lovely day everyone. Must get on.

Morning folks. Another cloudy one here but really warm. No rain. Legs spent the night outside duvet. Need to get my ironing done so will adjust ironing board to computer chair so that I can do it sitting down. Will ask DIL to put it away for me when she comes down in the afternoon. GK's are going swimming with their friends then on to KFC. Friends mum is going to have her hands full. Hope I find everyone well. Take care and good luck with comps.0

:hello: Good morning everyone
I hope you're all ok. I'm not even going to mention the
weather today except to say phew!
Actually managed to do a it of much needed gardening
yesterday afternoon. There was a slight breeze and I
stayed in the shady parts doing this n' that. Happy
days!
It's National Parks Week http://www.nationalparks.gov.uk/
& as luck would have it, there's a comp being run which I
swiftly posted in Competition Time. :j:j:j

That's a good idea adjusting ironing board to computer
chair rose so you can sit when ironing. Reminded me of
my mum, the ironing board she used actually had a
seat & she also used it for her sewing machine!
Bit like this .....
Well must get on - have a lovely & lucky Monday all and
please take care whatever your plans.

Morning everyone, that's my work done till friday now. Nephew arrived at 8 and his dad will pick him up around 12.He is 8 and a good kid, watching tv at the moment whilst my washing finishes,On my 3 lot so will pop to the shops when it's finished and hung out. I read your post about the ponies Alfie and it makes me mad, that there are some selfless drivers around who won't slow down for anything.I have driven through the forest on many occasions and always slow down. I slow down when there is a bird in the road and have been known to sit there whilst they walk across the road. Much to other drivers disgust. I wish they could catch these drivers and fine them, then it may make drivers think again.Right washings finished, hope you all have a lucky day.0

Warm here and sun trying to come out - bit cloudy so it is now you see it now you don't!
I have got the washing on too indie. Nice you can help out your nephew.
Remember how difficult the school holidays were when the kids were small. My sisters both help with their grand daughters . It is good when the family live near. Even if I do get grand children I won't be near enough to help that often I don't expect.
Glad you got some gardening done Alfie. We were out yesterday for an hour or so . We cut the shaded bits of the lawn where the grass was growing too high and tried to avoid the short burnt patches.
Also took out the dead forget-me-nots from the flower beds as they had wilted and were looking horrible.
Well done on finding the comp. Must look at my photos.
Good luck with the ironing rose, must be difficult to do standing up.
I will have plenty to do after I get this washing dry. Not sure where it all came from.
Good luck everyone.

Hey everyone! I just signed up here recently, comping is such great fun!
This heatwave is driving me mad, can't wait for the autumn weather :P Getting lots of gardening done though, our garden has been so neglected by the previous owners it's heavy work, it's all worth it when you see how much has been changed by the end of the day though!
So sad to hear about the New Forest ponies, I have two horses myself and adore them, hate taking them out on the roads though as it seems the number of clueless drivers is on the rise. Some drivers are downright malicious, purposely revving up your backside or throwing things out the window at the horses. How you could hit a pony and then leave it there to suffer is just beyond me, takes a truly horrible person.
Wishing everyone a great day!0 -
:hello: Hi AppleCrumble & welcome to The Inn.
We're a friendly bunch here and love having a good chat about
this, that & basically anything under the sun! It's lovely to
'see' a new face.
I've had enough of the heatwave too. Although I love the
sunshine, I find this relentless humidity quite unbearable. I
much prefer Spring & Autumn.
Unfortunately, it does seem as if we may have to get used
to this sort of climate in the coming years!
'This heatwave is just the start. Britain has to adapt to climate
change, fast'
..... 'Beyond this, many aspects of society will require deep and
difficult changes, including to our own mindsets. In the summers
of the future, particularly in the south of England, we will regularly
live in Mediterranean-type conditions. Adapting our national
infrastructure, particularly around maintaining our water supplies,
updating our housing stock as it is built to retain heat, and altering
how we manage our land to avoid further catastrophic fires, will all
be required. It is under-appreciated that climate change will
transform the very fabric of the experience of living in the UK.'
https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2018/jul/06/britain-heatwave-worse-to-come-water-climate-changeHo hum!
I used to ride regularly when I was a youngster. How
wonderful that you own two horses. They sound much loved
by you. :A
I agree about the way some motorists behave near these
beautiful creatures - absolutely disgraceful & so cruel! Poor
horses & also the riders, having to put up with it.
It does make you wonder what sort of mindset these
morons have. However, I'm a strong believer in karma -
these blighters will one day get their comeuppance and it
can't come soon enough!:j
Sounds as if you've been working mega hard in your
garden! Well done you. As you say, it's worth it at the end
of the day as the garden slowly transforms. :T
I was outside earlier seeing to some plants that were in
desperate need of TLC (they're not very happy in this heat)!
I've had to retreat inside now because today is a scorcher,
hottest day ever! Think there's an amber warning
across a good part of the UK re. very high temperatures!
Well, had better make a cuppa & crack on with a few
comps as it's too hot to do much else!
Cheerio for now - take care .....
