    I'm going to try ssm's carrots ;)

Carrots turns your wee orange! But they are ideal to wash and throw in a bag to eat when travelling.

I also eat a lot of beetroot.... which turns you wee red! I have this when I am in an office, with salt, pepper and vinegar on... it is rather yummy. Obs. not as yummy as a lovely sandwich dripping in mayo... but ok sort of yummy!

    Evening all.

Suspect I'll be joining you with a gain tomorrow Bubbs - it's been a carby week despite having a couple of speed days! Welcome newbies and well done to the losers. Glad you're comfortable at home Kathryn and feeling a bit better - hope you're being looked after!

Cooked one of the Tom Kerridge recipes tonight, with one or two tweaks, served with rice, broccoli and green beans:
    https://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/beef_stroganoff_16029
It was quite tasty and around 3 syns per serving, I reckon. There have been some good recipes on his programme for SW so might try one or two more as I'm getting a bit bored of my own cooking.

Good luck to those still to weigh in this week.
Good luck , hope you dont x

I'm never going to get it :rotfl: Celebrated with a massive homemade Mexican dinner, completely on plan of course. Hope I don't pay for the rice on the scales next week!

Congrats to all the losers :T Some fab losses after coming in this week.

  • Hi all, I've been watching this thread for a while but only just felt brave enough to join in, hope that's OK! I've been doing SW for a while but haven't been very good at taking it seriously recently so weight loss plateaued and started going back up again. I've given myself a talking to and determined to get back on it this week so have challenged myself to 3 lb off!

Welcome cloud88. You might find it helpful to post your menu plans each day. I find it helps me stick to plan.

If you have any questions feel free to ask. There is usually someone around to answer.

Thanks maman. I reckon I lost about 2lb. Although at WI it came up as only a half pound loss because I'd just eaten my dinner. Next week I'm not going to eat before WI.

I agree. I need to put more speed on my plate so will make a real effort to do more of that tomorrow and keep it up. I'll also try getting more protein on my plate and will supplement with exercise next week.

I'll have to use some syns, maybe a little at the weekend. The reason I haven't used many yet is cause I haven't downloaded the app yet so once I get that will be easier to see what I can use them for. Will have a go at setting app up tomorrow.

A little disappointed by my first weigh in but it's a step in the right direction. There's a lady in my group who lost like 10lb in first week and 3.5lb this week so she's already almost lost a stone - amazing!
    I lost 9 1/2 lb my first week , i lost nearly 3 stone in 3 months:eek:

and yet another STS .... :(

I think that I've reached a plateau, so I'm going to try a couple of SP days to see if that will kick start something - I've prepared a vat of veg soup in readiness :) Am I right in thinking that I can have porridge and milk as normal, then just protein, fruit and veg for the rest of the day - I don't go to group, I just follow this thread and google lol.
Leat you didnt put on Chris;)
Oops +1/2 for me this week. Must do better :rotfl:

I've been really enjoying his programmes too. This week he made a burger bulked out with grated courgette that looked tasty.

Me too - I've ordered his book from Amazon but it's going to take a few weeks to arrive.

The burgers made me think more about using turkey - I thought turkeys were just for Christmas ! So in ASDA today we bought some ASDA Butchers Selection Caramelised onion and turkey sausages, which I'm hoping will be reasonably low in syns - can anyone tell me ? Thank you. Details are here

In retrospect I suspect we would have been better of avoiding the 'caramelised onion' variety as they'll have sugar in. But I know my OH has really missed sausages, which we've not had at all since I started SW, so if I can find some relatively low-syn ones that would be great.

I've ordered the book from Amazon as well. Had an e-mail yesterday saying it would arrive sooner than originally told. Now saying 30 Jan - 1 Feb (originally 7-21 Feb). Looking forward to having a look at all the recipes. The Thai green chicken curry is really nice and huge portions (I made half the recipe and there was enough for me and DH for dinner with some rice and enough LO to have with a jacket for lunch the next day!

The Asda sausages are 2 syns each. You can get lower synned sausages. Both Tesco's and Sainsbury's do sausages that are 1 syn each - Tesco's Cumberland sausages and Sainsbury's Be Good to Yourself sausages. I'm really lucky as I've got a butcher near me that makes low fat sausages and they are only 0.5 syns each:T.

    Welcome cloud88.

Do people not like the SW's sausages? since starting SW, I have only had these or Quorn sausages (as they do this at a local all you can eat breakfast place.... they also do the best poached eggs in the world).

I got up this morning, but never quiet made it to work........and ignored my phone...... and ate rather a lot all day.

    Breakfast
    Quark and grapefruit

    Lunch
    Cheese (I never eat cheese)...
    Very large pack of popcorn
    Ham

    Tea
    onion
    tomato
    steak
and SW wedges (tom sauce OMG!)
    and apple, banana and yoghurt.

Now I am rather stuffed! Hopefully I will not open the very large box of Thorntons that I was given last night...... but they are shouting at me!

After extensive testing (!) could I recommend Aldis reduced fat sausage - in the chiller cabinet but in the same box as the more fatty ones - look for the light blue writing on the package - they're 1.5 syns each and very tasty.

Well yet again STS for me this week - to be truthful I expected a gain so I've got away with it a bit. Like others I've hit a bit of a plateau with 3lbs to go to target so I really need to shake things up this week. Meal plans have gone a bit awry lately so tomorrow I'll be planning and shopping accordingly. I don't like ice cream - never have - unfortunately I do like all other sweets/cakes/puddings but only miss chocolate in large quantities!

For anyone interested all the Tom Kerridge recipes are on line - I have a file on the laptop that I save SW friendly recipes in.

Well done, jay, lucia and Whiplashy (for shiny too).

Hello, cloud88, nice to meet you.

Well, I have feasted on maltesers today. I twisted my back when I lost my footing in the snow/ice earlier this week (I had been trying to protect my knee, lol). It hasn’t been that sore really, but the effect of trying to straighten (I’ve been listing to the side) has been tiring and I slept on and off all morning (I was up and dressed at 7.30 in case DGD was off school again today, but she went back). Too lazy to prep food. DH brought home curry fort tea. Back to the drawing board tomorrow. And my back is feeling much better too.
