Oops +1/2 for me this week. Must do better :rotfl:

It's not that bad, and you are still 3lb less than you were at the start of the year

and yet another STS .... :(

I think that I've reached a plateau, so I'm going to try a couple of SP days to see if that will kick start something - I've prepared a vat of veg soup in readiness :) Am I right in thinking that I can have porridge and milk as normal, then just protein, fruit and veg for the rest of the day - I don't go to group, I just follow this thread and google lol.

Always good to shake stuff up a bit every so often. Changing what you have for meals and trying new recipes can make the difference when you plateau

On SP days you get an extra healthy B.

  • STS for me this week. Not unhappy as I went for tapas on Wednesday with a pal. It was completely off plan and spontaneous so I'm thinking I got away lightly.
Just about to make a chilli con carne for tea which will be served with rice and I'm going to have mushrooms on He b toast for lunch.

Cooked one of the Tom Kerridge recipes tonight, with one or two tweaks, served with rice, broccoli and green beans:

It was quite tasty and around 3 syns per serving, I reckon. There have been some good recipes on his programme for SW so might try one or two more as I'm getting a bit bored of my own cooking.
I've been really enjoying his programmes too. This week he made a burger bulked out with grated courgette that looked tasty.

Hello, been MIA after losing my first stone. Two days ago I started having massive cravings, it's like my body is desperate for more! Been eating too much for the last 2 days: cheese, bread, fat, cake etc. Need to return to straight and narrow (from home). Can anyone help me with EE SP for vegetarians please? Actually, not 100% veg, can eat a bit of tinned fish and smoked salmon too. Thank you.

kathrynha is right that you get an extra HEB if you do SP 100%. So that would mean 50% protein and 50% Speed plus your healthy extras and syns. No free food so be careful not to have any free fruit and veg. If you do eat Quorn, they only count mince and pieces. Otherwise you can get your protein from eggs or pulses or fish and cottage cheese counts as well. So chris, as you can have your HEA&B, you can have your porage. SP is only designed to use for a short time as we need some carbs. My personal favourite carb substitute is carrot and swede mash. Other ideas would be roasted butternut squash or cutting carrots into big pieces (new potato size). I think it's about having something to cut into that we miss.

I'm planning on leaving the wine syns alone this week - it's definitely going to be the Gin diet this week:rotfl: as far as alcohol is concerned!

    Denise

Same here I think. I had lots of wine last night with my friend although the food was SW friendly. I've never been one to use WI day as treat day so I'm hating using so many syns so early in the week.

    Today's EE plan:
B: NAS grapefruit, HEB porage, HEA milk
L: JP with cottage cheese and beetroot
    D: SW spaghetti Bolognese
Syns: extra porage 6, syrup 2, alcohol syns tba:o

I've just eaten a quarter of a tub of the cinnamon roll halo top ice cream for 4.5 syns afterwards. How is that stuff allowed?! It's soooo good.

Oooh ! Had never heard of Halo Top bust have just googled their website and it sounds scrummy ! Ice cream is my real weakness but have managed to keep to plan so far because it's winter (although in my book it's never really too cold for ice-cream). Where do you get it from ?

    My meal plan for today:

Brunch: prawns with mixed leaf salad, sliced red pepper, 2 small slices wholemeal bread (HEXB)

Dinner: 'Chow mein' (peppers, onions, mushrooms, noodles with 1/2 pack ASDA sweet chilli stir fry pork (for two people, so 3.5 syns for the meat)

Snacks: Just been shopping so loads of choice - clementines, pears, raspberries, bananas, plums, 35g reduced fat cheddar (HEXA)

I'm with you on that one. Having lived just a few miles from a B&J's factory I can eat it no matter how cold it is.

p00hsticks you can have 40g of reduced fat cheddar for your HEA so enjoy that extra 5g!

Halo Top ice cream in available in Mr Ts and it's currently on offer at £2.50 instead of it's usual £4.50. In my local shop it's in a freezer at the end of the aisle not with the other ice creams and lollies.

    Today's plan:

B - waffles made using HEB oats; mixed frozen fruit; quark
    L - LO shepherd's pie; brown sauce - 1 syn; banana
    D - fish, chips & peas; apple

A bit low on Speed today although the shepherd's pie has added veg so hopefully with the fruit it'll be about 1/3 over the day.

    HEA - 1% milk
    HEB - oats
Syns - brown sauce 1; gin 6 or maybe 9 depending on how much I end up drinking! I have a slice of lime in the G&T does that count as Speed, LOL?

Chris I do SP a lot. You can certainly have your normal porridge and milk for breakfast. I would suggest adding in some speed to it, like some frozen berries maybe? You really want to be packing in the speed. Most of us are a bit slack on the normal one third speed, so remember that on SP you need to be getting 50% speed. You also get a second HEB on an SP day which makes it easier to manage. If you have a slow cooker I find it great to just throw a joint of meat into it in the morning and then have that as my P for a couple of days dinners and just pack the rest of the plate with speed veg :)

    Thanks for that.

I'm the only one who eats cheese in our house (OH was told at the start of last year to avoid it in an effort to reduce his cholesterol), so I find it easiest to get a 350g bag and simply cut it into ten equal portions for my HEXA - it saves me having to weigh it, as if one portion is slightly over then the next will be under.

I originally just got ordinary cheddar (where the allowance is 35g) but recently switched to reduced fat and should have checked that I could therefore have more of it. :). If I remember when I open the next block I'll aim to cut it into 9 portions rather than ten.

I'll look out for it, thanks.

I originally found the US website rathr than the UK one. It's a shame they don't do all the US flavours over here yet, as the ones that really appealed to me (e.g black cherry, pistachio) aren't available here. Cinnamon roll sounds good though.

[As an aside, as an ice cream lover, 'ice cream with extraneous bits in' would be going into my personal room 101 - IMHO, popping candy, jelly beans, cookie dough, meringue pieces and chocolate fish have no place in ice cream ! , The upside is that it makes it easier for me to negotiate the ice-cream aisles of the main supermarkets as there are fewer and fewer varieties on offer that actually tempt me now...].

Chocolate fish sooooooo belong in ice cream. I did some new product testing for B&J, and I tried phish food before the chocolate was fish shaped and I gave it very high marks :D

Thanks all, some food for thought there :)

I'll have to try and eat more veg I think - and cut back on the fruit. Apples and pears are my go-to snacks, I like to chew :o.
    I'm going to try ssm's carrots ;)
