I sat down and did the maths -by the time I had taken into account lower tax credits, travel expenses (and time) lunches clothes for work etc I was better off at TT than a fairly local better paid job I was offered.

No standing waiting in the rain for buses or struggling to find a close-ish parking space is a definite plus this time of year.

I use the time I save on commuting on mystery shops/audits and various other money making things

Won't be the same for everyone as everyone's circumstances are different but it suits me .............and I actually don't find it a stressful job compared to other customer facing roles I've had in the past.

I imagine the credit check is because you will be handling sensitive customer info regarding billing and such. I think their reasoning is that people who are in desperate situations, or those who have a history of fraud might take advantage.

Although I'm not sure about your specific circumstances, maybe others know.

My cicumstance is that I got into the debt when I was well off and could afford the repayments, but am now underemployed without much hope of getting back to the pay I was on before, and can't afford the rediculous interest rates now being changed. I have never done anything illegal and have enhanced disclosure. I find that an offensive way for people to be thinking. But I do need to know if they would sack me as that would mean I would be even worse off than I am now! I would be better off working for them than where I am now as I'm only part-time mini wage. With the lack of work around here is they sacked me I would end up homeless.
  • Like I say I'm not sure specifically what they'll take objection to.

A lot of companies only care if you've got stuff like fraud on there, so it's quite possible they won't mind.
  • Saying that, as Sanity rightly says, you do have the benefit / convenience of working from home.

My interview is tomorrow, and even though I've worked for them before, I'm still a bit nervous.Sim x

True. Hadn't thought of it quite like that. Still a bit low for me though unless I really hit a brick wall in terms of better paid online jobs - the Butler hill thing looks like a better option, and I've sent off my application today.

Good luck with your interview Sim :T

Just to wade in on the whole pay per hour debate - it does seem low and yes you could probably get better paid jobs but for some (like myself it fits in perfectly) Once you take out tax and NI all the money is my own, I have no other expenses yet if I were to go out to work I would have travel, uniform, food, and possibly childcare as well (I have a 5 yr old) but at the moment I have none of those expenses as I'm lucky that the hours I work coincide with when my husband is home from work and therefore able to handle the childcare side of things. Means more lolly for me :D lol

Good luck to those who are interviewing soon and hope those who are already in training are enjoying themselves :)

Please pm me the "tutorial"! ;-) I'll test eet owt.

Well I didn't mean I knew of one, just thought that might be the reason why it stopped working for some folks. :)

Anyway I just got it running no problem. Ripped the DVD to an ISO and set it up as generic Linux, didn't have to do anything special.

If you (or anyone) want to do it I can help you just let me know.

    Hi,

I was just wondering if anyone on here had an interview for Teletech last week on Tuesday (26/11/10)? I had the offer call on Wednesday and have since received one email from them saying welcome and that other emails will follow within two days with further information and paperwork to complete.

Anyone had anything else from them other than the Background checking email? I completed this on Thursday and not had anything since.
  • Yep, got my Workbooth CD on Saturday, but only the CD. Said they were sending out the rest of the pack in the post and we might not get it until Monday. Expect various letters and packages in the next couple of days.

    Thanks RinTinTin,

I'm guessing mine may turn up in the next couple of days then given that Royal Mail in my area are shocking.

    Hiya ladies and gents.

Hope you're all getting organised ready for training.

My training starts next week :)

A 'packet' awaits me at my sorting office (assume it's my contract / Workbooth CD).

I have a query for any of you guys who are already working for TeleTech..

    Dory78 and co -

Regarding the spec of our PC -

It used to stipulate on the TeleTech 'minimum requirements' page, that our Hard Drive had to be an 'IDE' drive, and not an 'SATA' drive.

    Is this still the case?

As most modern PC's, and especially laptops, have an SATA and not an IDE drive!

Any advice would be most appreciated, as I'm looking at a good deal on Ebay. However it has an 'SATA' drive.

If you could point out the TeleTech PC spec web page too, that'd be great.

    Many Thanks,

    Sim.
