    Thank you ionafan xx

Round 2 completed. Brought down towels to wash tomorrow, and DS's small hillock of washing - not the Himalaya I was afraid of :D. I'll take up some bags later and put each pile of presents in to a separate bag with appropriate card ready for DS to deliver / hand out. They can then go on his bed, as they are currently on mine and I want to sleep in there tonight :).

I opened the curtains in DS's [STRIKE]pit[/STRIKE] room and noticed his bin is overflowing, so when the bags go up the bin will come down and the contents binned / recycled as appropriate.

So that'll be Round 3: bags up, bin down.... but I'm going to re-spoon for 30 minutes reading a book.

ionafan - I'll be seeing a small baby on Christmas Day: my DB became a Grandad on 7th November. She's the first baby in the family since DS (and he's 25 next week!) I'm hoping for cuddles :D

My cards have arrived :D Thanks Natty for organising and to everyone who sent one x

I also have my Secret Santa pressie - it did arrive a while ago but I had to go and collect it so only had the chance today. Thanks ionafan for organising and to whoever sent it x

Yesterday was better than I expected - very low key in assembly which suited me and more lovely messages, cards and gifts.

((Hugs)) to you Froddington. I'm sure it will be difficult then a bit surreal, but you know you've made the right choice for you.

Fayolle - you have summed it up perfectly, thank you!

When I left teaching at this time 17 years ago it was the children that I missed most (one parent still keeps in touch :)), then the colleagues who had seen me through some of the darkest nights of my life (and I still have phone conversations or occasionally meet up with them :grouphug:), but I most definitely did not miss the admin, preparation and marking!

Absolutely! Leaving the children is the hardest thing and I'm not sure it's really hit me yet. Having such small classes and most children for 2 years means we get to know them and their families so well. Hopefully I'll be able to do some supply work there in the future and I'll keep in touch with several staff.

LW - hope you had a lovely day yesterday x

Natty - gentle hugs; glad you and your car are ok x

Gentle hugs also to Mrs MP and Honey Bear - hope you both feel better soon x

Sorry to hear about the wing mirror, Lover of Lycra, but glad it wasn't any worse x

Washing up done and WM on - think that's my limit for the day! :o

Healing vibes going out to all the places they're needed; NZ included.

Back to normality and sanity (?) today - huge pile of Mr LW's washing done, and now on A-frames over the bath.

He has also had a clothes turf-out; he says that as he's not going to the office anymore he doesn't need so many shirts, so some have been allocated for the chazzer. So we now have a boxful of assorted goodies; plus a bagful of defunct towels that can be used for bed linings for stray furbabies. These will be taken along as soon as we can reasonably do it; I want to pop into Wyrdo's for some incense sticks while we're there, too.

Quick cup of coffee, then it'll be time for Ronnie's afternoon walk.
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)
  • My cards have arrived and I am so overwhelmed, it's been so joyful reading them all :):)

Hugest of thanks to everyone who sent one, to Natty for organising, to Narco for the chocolate (which I ate straight away :o) and esp. to HB for your lovely words. Thanks again (and huge congrats BTW) to Iona for sorting Secret Santa.

Right, off for that bath now, with wine :beer: Cheers friends xx

  • Hi all

DS2 has another cold. And he is not the son with health problems and a compromised immune system! My darling BIL is supposed to be coming tomorrow as part of our big celebrations and he has cancer so need to check the score with SIL. Sigh.

Anyhow, that aside all going well. Paid stuff done and dusted, how nice to say that! Off to take DS2 and DH to the pub and meet up with SILs and some friends for a non-alcoholic drink. Then pick up a takeaway for myself and DS2 and hopefully might persuade him to play a board game or two.

A few presents to wrap, some spare plates and glasses to dig out and wash but its all going to plan. DS2s stinky work stuff in the wash and will go over the airer. Stinky riding boots to chuck in the shed.

Hugs to those who need it. I know Christmas is not a happy time for eveyone (been there and done that) so be kind to yourself if things are not easy right now xxx

  • Bathrooms done - well, one is, the other is covered in soap foam because the blasted water pressure is too low for the shower to work to rinse everything off.

Himself started to make cheese straws, but realised he couldn't actually get to the surfaces, so has partially cleaned them and ended up scrubbing the whole of downstairs. Felines are currently acting the idiot because I had used bleach downstairs with the soap. That bathroom is therefore out of use for the foreseeable future.

He's also twitchy because the present he ordered for his little boy hasn't turned up yet, so he doesn't get to see him before Christmas (Mum treats the kid like a dubious satellite TV channel - pay per view). I went out in search of sloe gin for the essential taste of Home when we can't get there this year thanks to the morons in charge of the railways, but there wasn't any in stock. And my card fell apart anyway, so I had to skulk away from the supermarket without vegetables - cue one long wait in the bank to be told that my new card had already been ordered and should have arrived by now. I wasn't allowed to take any money out of my account because I couldn't prove my PIN worked because the card reader couldn't read the *%£*("*£%(_*_( card.

Fortunately, I'd transferred a wodge into Himself's account yesterday, so I had to get some of it back from him to buy his present.

Have now eaten enough cheese straws (more branches than straws in my opinion) to feel well stocked up for the rest of the evening. And his effort at getting a Christmas Tree has resulted in an eight inch high version on the coffee table 'because it would be funny'). I would ask where exactly the fifty year old fairy that is supposed to sit on the top and the silver tinsel and bells from my Granddad's tree are supposed to go, but I'm in danger of deciding where to shove them and the glorified pot plant if I think about it any more.

So I'm going down the pub.
I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.

Just refreshed the thread and spotted this - thank you for letting us know - you can safely ignore my PM sent a few minutes ago!

Apart from taking Rosie for her walk and a run with a 4-month-old collie pup (who is already as big as she is), catching up with some zzz and cooking tea, I have done almost nothing this afternoon/evening apart from answering emails.

Think I'll go and put the baubles on the tree, and bring in the holly branches so that they dry overnight before I put them up...
