That is a myth!
The cheapest food is home cooked - you can make a cottage pie far cheaper than junk!

Forget diets, slimming world etc .... they are all temporary and who in their right mind wants to spend rest of life counting calories, reading labels etc. There is zero long term motivation in that! .... The exception to this rule is managing snacking between meals. Keep this stuff out of the house and cook an extra meal if necessary to combat this
The key is burn more than you eat. Its a simple equation .... so get a dog or join a walking club, take up a sport or hobby that gets him active.0 -
Or on a totally different tack - openly lust after slim/attractive men on tv/in the street/etc and he might get the message of how he'd like you openly lusting after him again....as you presumably once did...
I've not forgotten the time I saw an ex-boyfriend for the first time for ages. He'd always been slim when he went out with me - and it became quite apparent that the visibly shocked look I was aware I had on my face when I spotted him after that time (ie because he'd blown up and looked a human barrage balloon basically) had an effect without a word being spoken. Fast forward a few months and next time I spotted him he'd got back to a lot nearer to normal size.0 -
5:2 worked for us. OH lost 3stone, with another to go and I’ve lost 2st.
Michael Mosley has a very supportive a Intermittent Fasting website, with various forums, too.
Fish out some photographs and see if he realises. OH is appalled st the way he looked at his heaviest.

That's nonsense, healthy food is not expensive. Veg, fruit and pulses are not expensive, plus if you eat a sensible amount of meat - if you eat it isn't either. It's all the junk people pile there trolleys with that's expensive.
People will only loose weight if they want to. One small tip, buy smaller dinner plates, fill the plate with mainly veg.0 -

Would have to disagree with you there.
I used to walk miles - walked once from London to Brighton- but never lost any weight.....& I was a big girl.
Started with slimming world and haven’t looked back.once I get to target I know I can relax a little but I know if I go back to my old ways the weight will pile back on.0 -

I think they were meaning it was about learning new eating habits and sticking to them. Cutting out junk eating healthy and exercising. If your still eating junk and not exercising much your not going to notice much difference.0 -

That's not true. You can eat junk and exercise a lot but that's not a healthy lifestyle.
Slimming World is a healthy eating programme. You don't count calories. You just eat a healthy home cooked balanced menu with heaps of fruit and veg and limit treats. One of the reasons for obesity is that things that used to be treats are everyday foods whether it's crisps or chocolate bars or booze.0 -
Encourage him. Don't criticise or nag him. But ultimately the desire has to come from him. If there's nothing to encourage say nothing.
Walk with him. Ten minutes round the block EVERY day. Gradually increase it.
I lose seven stone after a high blood pressure reading. It took nearly eighteen months.
I gave up sugar in hot drinks.
I walked ten minutes a day to start with. By the end of my regime I was walking for over an hour a day and often three hours.
Breakfast was weetabix and a banana or porridge and a banana.
Lunch was three boiled eggs, four new potatoes, some chunks of ham or chicken and a few bits of salad.
Tea was whatever the ex-Mrs PW cooked for me. No change to my routine there. Not always healthy but the other meals and walking were doing more than enough good.
I felt absolutely fantastic as I got lighter. Climbed a mountain in the Lake District. Developed back pain but carried on walking.
Alas, it turned out the back pain was the spread of stage four lung cancer. I'm a goner, probably in the next year. I'd learned to love walking but my mobility is now hugely restricted.
Life is short. But a few simple steps got me from 23 stone to under 16 stone. That might not be sleek but I looked and felt great in the months prior to my diagnosis.
It is achievable. But he's got to really want to do it himself. And it has to be a permanent change. No point losing a few stone and then giving up on the eating habits that achieved it.0
