On another note, I too explored the unit rates of the 3 suppliers & while OTM explicitly say that their unit rates advertised include 5% VAT, others dont. Others post the annual cost & that includes VAT whereas OTM's unit cost for Gas & Elec include 5% VAT.
Furthermore OTM fixed tariffs don't include exit fees. Therefore at least for 12 months customers signing up are guaranteed fixed tariffs while also having the liberty to switch anytime without penalty. That's good flexibility for customers.
PS: I am willing to stand corrected if other suppliers include 5% VAT in their unit rates but i could not find it explicitly defined.1 -
Most do, Orbit Energy unit rates and quoted prices are exclusive of Vat for DD customers, would be useful to know which other energy companies quotes are exclusive of VAT.fact_check said:On another note, I too explored the unit rates of the 3 suppliers & while OTM explicitly say that their unit rates advertised include 5% VAT, others dont. For clarification I quoted my E7 electricity price of 20% night usage with Symbio Energy £409.42 and Bristol Energy £344.64 = £754.06, however, the cheapest standard meter is Outfox The Market £393.96 and Bristol Energy £344.64 = £738.60, therefore, duel-fuel medium usage is clearly cheapest with Outfox The Market £731.16!0
-
Yesterday I should have said the two cheapest single fuel combined is £738.60 because Outfox The Market accept E7 meters on a single rate, however, Symbio Energy don't!0

Whether or not OTM is the cheapest supplier is irrelevant.
The cheapest supplier(s) for any user will depend on where they live, how much fuel they use, and the balance between gas and electricity. The cheapest supplier for a low energy user might not be the cheapest supplier for a high energy user. Separate suppliers for gas and electricity will be cheaper for some users but not for others.
Every user needs to run their own calculations through a good price comparison site.
If OTM is the cheapest supplier, then this thread should help people concerned about OTM's reportedly poor customer service.
Clogging up this thread with discussions as to who is the cheapest supplier for a particular user in a particular area is irrelevant. So are trolls creating accounts purely to promote or bad mouth OTM.
Let's get this thread back on topic please - feedback, good or bad, from genuine OTM customers.6 -
In your opinion which price comparison sites are the best ones to use? I just use CEC and I am probably missing out on something. At the moment I am with OTM and they are better than I thought they would be, phone is answered quickly and easy to change to a cheaper tariff when one is available. However the proof of the pudding is in the leaving.0

I use MSE CEC because it's convenient and they store my data. I then use https://switch.which.co.uk/ to double check, as it is run by the Consumers' Association which is not for profit. I've found MSE CEC to be reliable for everything except ratings.1

Symbio Energy claim to be UK's cheapest energy provider, however, it's a lie!

Oh dear, you really need to read the small print. The Symbio example is for an annual consumption of 9000kWh = £1075. Outfox for the same consumption in my region is £1198!Clif said:Symbio Energy claim to be UK's cheapest energy provider, however, it's a lie!

Back on topic I mentioned the other day I had used less gas/electric recently and become £100 in credit, OFTM have reduced my bill automatically and I should be fairly level again in about 6months.There were others mentioning they overcharged and took ages to get refunds, but in my case their (presumably automated) system for bill adjustment is working fine.1
