I really wish I'd moved nearer the sea earlier in life... Still debate it now.

Hope your DD finds somewhere she can be happy and succeed

PCR came back negative, head still not quite right, but feel so much better than I did yesterday. Looking forward to Friday now.

I would love to live by the sea too sh. We lived in a South coast city for seven years and I do miss it (not the hills though!)

Talking a bit more with the girl this morning, she is very torn, but feels the one in Cornwall will suit her introverted personality better. Also it is likely to be cheaper to live there than the other one, so have said she may get away without working in term time as long as she saves like mad this year and comes home and works in the holidays. Which is a huge thing for her. She has 2k saved, will get 1k from her trust fund and possibly 2k from grandparents for her 18th (was going to buy a car but now there isn't going to be a gap year she probably won't get one) so if she can save another 3k this year I think she would be sorted with just working in the holidays.

I think I've said before I went to a uni in the middle of nowhere with views of the hills every year and loved it. It was tiny but perfect for me and I got to know almost everyone

It's funny, the first one we saw is actually way smaller than the one in Cornwall. That one shares a site so is actually two uni campuses in one, but a smaller town. But a much more rural site overall. She will get to a decision eventually, she my not even get into them yet! But she is already looking at building her portfolio with extra work, and considering two months ago she hadn't even started looking at unis I think she is doing alright!

Am going to have to look at our budget seriously before she goes though.

It's amazing how motivating having a clear vision of the future can be.

Yes - good luck with the budgeting side. It is soooo expensive - and the problem is you don't want to leave them carrying that whole debt burden... and it's hard for them to earn enough... I still made him pay for some... but after the first term we were pretty much paying £400 pcm while repaying shed loads of debt. Ex gave up his fancy car and traded down... to help afford it.

  • We think she can get around 8k saved if she includes her trust fund and 18th birthday money. We will be asking my dad to assist with accommodation costs, and then money for phone and food. Hopefully that will do he if she works hard during the holidays. She has the option to transfer with her job, but it's a full on course so might be better if sje I'd frugal and doesn't work in term time.

Yesterday we went to a theme park with the girl. She adores rollercoasters, the other kids, less so. The boy stayed home (they both have a day off college on Fridays) and helped my mum get the smaller two from school. We got their early, in 45mins we had done four of the big rides 😂 I went on way more than I thought I would but did overdo it on the ones with inversions. I am not a fan of going upside down lots in one ride. I shocked myself by going on one I was adamant I wouldn't go on, but I actually really enjoyed it. Only did it once though, I wanted to give it another go, but chose to go on my favourite three times instead! Hubby refused to go on it, he isn't a fan of those types, so I dragged the girl on with me, she liked part of it, but hated the beginning.

It was a super fun day, and something we should do more of, but both me and hubby were regretting it once we got home, mid forties is a time when being flung about on rollercoasters can be a little unforgiving on the body 😂 still ache a bit today!

Cost wise the tickets were super cheap as it was a special day just for hubby's work, he stumped up for food while we were there, so just petrol from the budget. Annoyingly forgot to get any until we were on our way so had to stop on the motorway. So just popped a bit in, it was 20p a litre more than local prices 😱 will fill up properly today.

This weekend I a quiet one. We had tickets to the theatre, but the girl couldn't get time off work because of all the time off looking at unis. The tickets cost about £25 total when booked 18months ago so I opted to give them away on a FB theatre group I am on. Couldn't face trying to sort a refund as the price they cost was so low and other people have been struggling with contact, and it was nice to gift them to someone who was desperate to go but couldn't afford it. Told them to pay it forward at some point. Not very mse but felt worth it to me.

My first date with OH was Blackpool Pleasure Beach, made him go on the mouse which he hated.  Sounds like you've had a good time.
