  • Sorry to hear you're having a tricky time DAL.
LAs are all about cost cutting and they can be very sneaky.  My youngest had an EHCP for a couple of years and the school were given a chunky list by the LA about what they were required to do and gave them no funding, said it should be achievable within the school budget!
The school are so good and were doing everything the EHCP stated anyway, so I let it drop off his file to save the school the admin in the end.  I thought by applying it would help the school (with funding), not hinder!

This is the issue. In his first echp the LA actually stated he needed full time one to one in their own report, then only gave 16hrs! Luckily the senco could use back on that.

I am going through the new echp tomorrow, but it looks like it should be fine, it's an updated one due to the review we had earlier in the year. Not convinced he will get a place at the sen school, but if we don't try.......

  • So long since I posted!

The ECHP came through and it was all OK in the end, but what a lot of stress and faff.

It's been spendy here, most of it budgeted for though, Xmas gifts nearly all done, nothing wrapped though, I am very very behind this year. In laws descending next week for a few days, we haven't seen them since Easter as they moved back across the country in the summer and have been all up in the air and had some health issues. It will be lovely to see them, but part of me just wanted to cry when hubby told me. I am working until the 21st this year, am behind with everything and my house is filthy. So was planning on blitzing everything in the 22nd, will now have to try and fit that in before the weekend. I know in laws won't really care, but I will.

The girl will be home this weekend at some point to. Or possibly next Monday. Depends if she decides to brave the train or not, I have offered to pick her up which is probably easiest. She finally got herself sorted and told work she will be back so hoping she gets some shifts to get a bit of money in the bank. I saw her a few weekends ago when I went on a Guide trip to London. Was lovely to see her. She is loving living a city life.

These past few weeks have been tough as a friend passed away very very suddenly. She was one of my mums oldest friends and  have known her since I was about 10/11. Only saw her at a social a few days before and she was fine. She wasn't that old either. No health issues, and then she was just gone. Funeral was last week and was so tough. Also makes me realise my parents are getting failed too.

I have also had to spend over £300 on glasses. Have never had an issue with my eyes, but since covid I have been struggling with blurred vision in the evenings and my eyes ache a lot. My vision has always been perfect (like properly perfect) and there has been a slight change, so small the petition said most people wouldn't need glasses, but due to the symptons she said to get them for driving (I drive a lot) and to wear when I am tired. However I have been referred to the hospital as she saw something on one of the eye scans, probably nothing, but may be something that needs checking. My body hates me, along with my dodgy bone tumour, I think I might need a full body scan! I am attempting to not worry about it though. Doubt I will hear before Xmas so will chase in the new year if I have no contact about it. But glasses, so expensive! I knew they would be, but have chosen decent frames so hopefully they will last forever. Decided that my eyes are only going to get worse due to my age, so worth spending the money now. If they work I will need to try and save some for sunglasses, I wear them all the time driving in the summer months.

So now, just the downward slope into Xmas. Trying to remember all the ridiculous school things and life admin along the way!

Sorry to read about your friend. Hope you manage to get some time just got you. Can you rope the family into help with cleaning/tidying?  It might not be up to your standards but could make life easier.

Sorry you're having a rough time. I'd somehow missed you were fighting cancer - hope that you are getting good treatment.

Oh no, I don't have cancer!!! Sorry if it reads that way. When I dislocated my shoulder three years ago the xray and MRI picked up a bone tumour (althought they called it something else,  the top of my humerous looks odd, a bit like a Sponge?) but while it's an odd thing, there is no concern it is cancerous. I just had MRI scans to check it wasn't growing (it's not) and the medical opinion is that I have probably had it for years, and as it isn't growing or causing pain they will continue to scan every few years and chat about how odd it is!

Haven't heard from the hospital re the eye thing, will have to remember to chase that up in the new year. It literally just needs an eye expert to take one look to say if it is an old scar or a new growth. The optician was pretty sure it is an old scar, but I have had no eye trauma ever and she says it needs looking at.

Ah glad you are okay. I was worried for you. Was it like a bone spur?

    Hope your eye is okay.

  • They called it a bone infarction I think. So its actually inside the bone rather than something growing on it. I know it's unusual in how large it is and that I have had no pain from it at all. So are keeping an eye on it, but no concerns that it is cancerous, more an oddity so regular scans and apparently they bring it to a meeting where they discuss weird stuff 🤷‍♀️🤣

So I am not surprised something was found in my eye tbh.

    Right.

I have spent Xmas reading through this diary and realising how far we have come since it began. I have really fallen away from posting this year, so think it is probably time for a new diary. This year is going to be very challenging financially, so I think I need to draw a line under this chapter and start afresh. Will pop a link up for the new one in a bit.
