Had a nice weekend. In laws visited, was a shame I had to work yesterday otherwise I think they would have taken us out. They have been great at entertaining the small two though.

I am working all week, supposed to be doing a half day on Friday so I can drive to Cornwall, but the girl may have to do something for college so just deciding whether or not to leave at midday or 2pm. She was having a tantrum about it yesterday, honestly I am lacking a lot of sympathy with her right now, she has over committed and rather than admitting this, she has just left everything to the absolute last minute and is flapping.

On my own in job 1 atm, always hate not having the back up, but there isn't a huge amount of work that needs doing so hopefully it all goes ok. Back to job 2 tomorrow.

Decorator painted the stairwell so now I need to hang some pictures. I also bought wallpaper to hang on the other stairway, can't find anyone to do it so will have to attempt it myself. I can hang wallpaper, but am hoping it doesn't look too messy.

Anyway best go and kick the teens out of bed, according to the girl she has a very busy day today, still no sign of her surfacing!

  • So I am no longer taking a half day on Friday, the girl has committed to something until 3pm so will have to leave for Cornwall much later than hoped. Not the end of the world but had planned to drive to the town we are visiting to have a good nose around then to the hotel and them all day at the open day. So looks like we will have to have to look at town and uni in one day, which will mean a late return on sat.

But means an extra 2hrs pay in a month where I am over £100 down due to covid cancellations so that will help. Just annoyed at her tbh.

Job 1 went ok, all the work got done, I even managed to get some church stuff done, I am quite behind but hope to be up to date before the next meeting and even have a proper sofa to present rather than the random one I have had up to now!

Finances are tight, hubby decided we needed nice new cutlery and crockery so £150 spent on that. Came out of his budget though, and it is nice. Feel very grown up with it!

In budgeting items I have purchased a new Xmas tree, through hubby's work so discount applied. Also purchased the girls main present, left it to late for the boys and will now have to pay about £20 more, annoyed at myself there. The smallest has finally asked for some more bits for Xmas, including a pair of binoculars 🤷 mil said they have a decent pair somewhere so will send them to us, save some money 😂 apparently they also have a decent (old) film camera so are going to give it to the girl, was going to buy her one at some point anyway, the ones from college are rubbish, she did a whole shoot on one and it was broken so didn't work! It's not needed for her course, but is a nice extra if she wants to shoot on film rather than on digital.

Yay to the extra couple of hours pay. I feel for you on the rush that is likely to be Saturday though (and Friday evening).

We ended up going into the town both before and after the uni visit. The girl was really impressed and feels the setting would suit her down to the ground. Unfortunately she was a little less sure about the courses. She said if she could do the course from the first uni visit, at this site it would be perfect! We did get lots of info on what they would be looking at in a portfolio which was great, and I would be happy with her going to either unis. We have one more to visit this month, but tbh I doubt it will make the shortlist.

After a busy weekend I woke today with the worst headache. I have had one all weekend, but put it down to driving and busyness. But today it actually woke me up and isn't easing at all, rare for me. I also couldn't get cool at all! Now that could be being a women in my mid 40's, but with the bad head and general fatigue I took myself off for a PCR test. If it is covid would rather know now than later this week. LF was negative, but a bad head for three days seems to be a symptom. Better safe than sorry, especially as we were mixing so much over the weekend and are due to go to a theme park on Friday. So fingers crossed it's just general weariness......

It was beautiful HSL. Quite jealous tbh 😂 but wouldn't have done me for uni, I needed a bit more of a city vibe. I went to the north east, cities, but also a lot of space and wilderness which was great for the course I chose. But the girl really does want to be by the sea. We ate sandwiches down by the ferry bit. She said it really reminded her of Oban where we have been a few times on the way to Mull.
