    Hi Phoenix - this particular challenge runs out on dec 31st - so prob not a lot of point joining yet (tho we appreciate cheerleaders)
    , but a new one for jan will be set up. Maybe use the last few days of dec to monitor all your spends/nsds, budget all outgoings and social events for jan. And keep on reading here for when the jan thread is set up.

  • Yesterday was a NSD so we m at 10/15. Didn’t do much to be honest, we didn’t even leave the house as it was wet and windy. We just sat and watched some tv. I did clean the kitchen and sort out the fridge and I’m making good use of the Christmas leftovers at the moment.

    Don’t have much planned for today - will continue to try and get through the mountain of clothes that need washing, but hoping for another NSD today and a relaxing day.

    Gratitudes
    Leftovers for dinner

    Yet another NSD, so that makes 12! I have spent the entire day painting skirting boards and window sills, which, surprisingly, was as exciting as it sounds:( On the plus side, the skirting boards and window sills are painted. :rotfl:.)
    I have a friend who calls them window bottoms, and laughs her head off when I talk about window sills.
    She keeps talking about having dust all over her front window bottom. I snigger quietly. She spends a lot of time cleaning it.

    I cleaned both hamster cages and they are quietly waving their clenched paws at me and muttering about poo-thieves while shredding their new tissues into bedding .

    Just stopped DH from going shopping to Mr M's -silly of me, I could have kept not spending until next year:rotfl: but we have enough to do tonight and breakfast tomorrow, so either way, I will have a NSD today anyway. Tomorrow can take care of itself. I am getting quite excited to see how much I can get done in the house before 2018. Yep, I have a deadline to work to.

    Hope you all had a lovely Christmas doing whatever it was you wanted to do.

    NSD not achieved yesterday or today - total spend <£20 on diy items for leaking loo, but still spends. However, it would seem that the loo now no longer leaks! :j:j This is much call for celebration by all 3 boys, as it was the loo in 'their' (the 'family') bathroom which had the issue so they had to keep running downstairs to the loo by the front door (the other one on the same floor as their bathroom is DD's ensuite (so a total no-go!) and our bathroom is up another flight of twisty stairs) Yeay for loos which don't leak:T:T

    The bathroom now needs putting back together, some pipework re-boxing and some paintwork touching up (and OH is tackling the flooring which got damaged by the leak) - will see how long that takes.....

    Tomorrow will be a spendy day - we are going out for a 'festive' afternoon tea (= sandwiches have cranberry in and there is fruit cake) - it was a Xmas present, so no spends involved but we could do with picking up some milk whilst out (down to 6 pints - so that'll likely be gone at some point in the morning!) It's snowy/ icy out, so I didn't want to venture to Tesc0 today (OH could have picked it up when going to diy store, but as he was a bit stress at the time I decided not to ask!)

    Gratitudes:
    * non leaking loo! :j:j
    * lovely dinner out last night, courtesy of OH's co (so no expenses for us as it was claimable as our Xmas party :D)
    * heating
    * leftovers (almost all gone)
    * finding the toy that DS3 wanted to buy with Xmas money online at a 'normal' price (have only been able to find it at stupidly inflated price the past few days)
    * having enough food in for us and g-pigs that we haven't had to venture to the madness of a s'mkt
    * having the heating on so much because it's so cold means the washing is getting dry faster! (got to find a positive from the negative cost of putting it on most of the day! :D)
    * no stupid food waste (food waste bin contents = bird carcass, the odd crust from a sandwich/ piece of toast, the odd spoonful of food from a plate and eggshells - nothing we've bought/ made has been thrown, which is great) (all veggie waste goes to g-pigs (eg sprout trimmings, outer cabbage leaves) or compost bin (eg: onion skins, pepper innards, tea leaves))
    I am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soul
    Repaid mtge early (orig 11/25) 01/09 £124616 01/11 £89873 01/13 £52546 01/15 £12133 07/15 £NIL
    Net sales 2024: £20
  • Didn't go out today either. It is so cold but we didn't really need anything so still eating out of the freezer.
    I could be doing lots but I'm being a slob - sitting in front of TV and watching things I've seen a million times before. I have looked at what I want to achieve next year. Bit ambitious but I KNOW I can do it f I really try.
    Hope you are all safe and warm.
    Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.
