Thanks for running the challenge this month apple.
We have spent £4.97 at Asda on YS items today but other than that we haven't spent. I have done some cleaning and taken some of the decorations down and will take the tree down tomorrow, DS and DH have made a lego castle for a rather stupid school project which was given as holiday homework - a contradiction in terms imo.
I have a bottle of wine in the fridge and we are having snacky party type food tonight. I have been out for a short run this afternoon just to gauge how horrible it would be after being ill - it was horrible but I've had worse runs.
Have a lovely evening whatever you are doing.Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler

Just wanted to say Thank you to Apple for running the thread, I've yet to hit a target on the NSDs but it is helping me focus where I want to be.
Talked things over with DH, sorted SOA, (we already monitor all bills, but not all food and silly spends) have shifted 2 CCs to a 0%, with a 0% transfer. we've 30 months to make a dent.
Sadly what we've cleared off the two I knew about, we've put on the one I didn't. Financially we've stood still. So going forward. No CC will be added to any online payment database, and we'll only operate in cash out and about to prevent overspending.Debt Free April 2019:j to July 2019NEW WTC:eek:1,194

Nearly at the end of 2017. Some was sad, some was bad, some was good and some was great but ending it all on a positive frame of mind. Thank you to Apple for running December and everyone else who ran the challenges throughout the year but most of all thank you to all of you for your support (and, believe me, there times that I really needed it).
So. forward to 2018. Lots of plans, lots of travelling.
I wish you all the very best for next year.Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.0 -

NSD today, and sorted out half a bagful of clothes for the CS. As they haven't left the house yet, I will put them towards next month's decluttering target (must count them)
Also threw out a large tin of ancient rusk (breadcrumb stuff that butchers use for sausage making) that OH had been hoarding. It looked ok, but smelt a bit stale, I am hoping the birds like it!
Used up some Christmas leftovers in a huge and yummy macaroni cheese that I made for dinner. There is some left for tomorrow's lunch too
Happy New Year everyone, and thanks to Apple for running the challenge not only for December, but for January too :T0 -
Hello all! Sorry for not being around, I'm just going to sneak in a post before the year and month ends!
After a luxurious time off over Christmas I woke up on the 27th to find the temp agency I had joined had been trying to get hold of me. Turns out someone they had arranged to do three days of work had called in sick/not turned up. They asked if I could do the three days starting that day, trouble was I was in Bristol and the job was in Cardiff. After some rearranging of plans I did 2 hours on the 27th and then worked 8am-5pm on Thurs and Fri. Some very much needed pennies will be coming my way.
But those working hours plus the early symptoms of a cold or flu which haven't morphed into anything terrible but are lingering and being a nuisance means I was too worn out and busy to do anything until today.
I have also been signed off and fully confirmed for the long term temporary job so I start on the 2nd.
This year has been a tough one in parts, but ultimately my mental breakdown in June had to happen because I was not taking my mental health seriously and I needed to. I can honestly say I end this year the happiest I have ever been.
I have been doing a No Spend Years of sorts, basically not allowing myself to buy 'things' especially if a reasonable person would say they were unnecessary.
If the goal was to have a complete No Spend Year, then I failed. But the main goal was to prioritise my debts (I paid off over £3000) live more (I socialised all the time, saw Queen, went away and saw lots of people who live far away) and live as frugally as possible. In total I spent slightly over £400 on 'contraband' purchases which was made up of clothing, 1 DVD, 3 magazines, a few cook books, and the occasional work lunch/stuff to eat on a train/takeaway coffee/food bought to eat when there was food at home.
I think I did good on the whole.
Happy New Year all, see you next year on the next thread.Debt Free Stage 1 - Completed 27/08/2020
