NSDs 9 - not one today - A5da shop to make use of an expiring APG voucher and Tesc0 to make use of another expiring voucher. Good haul of YS items in both :)
Lunches taken/ prepped at home - no - we were out over lunch (planned since Nov) and had a McDs at £5.96 for the 2 of us, budgeted for in 'social'

Debt destruction: Aiming for DFD (exc BTL mtge) of 10/18. Have joined the 'pay off all your debts by Xmas 2018' challenge to hopefully gain inspiration and keep motivation :)
Exterminate Facebook gone from phone. Will keep it off. Regenerate - will re-start cleaner eating - starting with dropping sugary snacks in between meals - sugary snacks are being consumed.....:o
Clear up, clean up and take control. Clear space by removing 31 items - 93/31- Clean up your way of talking to yourself. Let yourself sparkle. Take control of your finances, your time, your habits, and your health. -
Explore your local area - possibly not the original spirit of the challenge (think it was outdoors related) but OH and I went on a guided 2 hour tour of our local prison (closed in 2013) today - dates back to 1791 (?ish) and was one of the last hanging prisons and has really old parts and some new (1980s) parts. Tiny old Victorian cells with no loos and fitting 2 prisoners in. Listed buildings which are decrepit in parts.
Mental health.. Do something every day this month that makes you feel good: Write down 4 gratitudes each day.
    * YS items
    * half price Xmas cards in WHS and then a further 25% off ('individual' type cards - think I'm sorted for Xmas 2018 now :D)
    * Interesting facts about the 'local' area (Gloucester prison)
    * snuggles with DS3
    Budget EVERYTHING
Food 528.97/450 - Oops! However, we have loads of food, inc loads of YS meat and lots of cheeses left. Also I have bought about £30 of stuff for DD to take back to uni next month. Must try harder in Jan, though!
    Social 49.71/£120
Gifts 125.21/£125 - have included next year's Xmas cards bought now in this figure
    Fuel 50/65
Make extra money 60.66:j:j (+ 6 extra hours at work) - (and kids have made over £150 (net) from selling toys!!:T:T)
Evaluate (Done) Now to 2018: (targets set)
    Remember to do - DONE
I am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soul
    Repaid mtge early (orig 11/25) 01/09 £124616 01/11 £89873 01/13 £52546 01/15 £12133 07/15 £NIL
    Net sales 2024: £20
  • Not a NSD as I just ordered some HiFi bars online. Hoping they don’t take too long to come as they are ideal for packed lunches.

Other than that I’ve had a fairly good day, cleaned the bedroom (it was needed), I’ve also done x2 loads of washing today and taken the dig out fir a walk.

We might take the dog out for a long park walk tomorrow and DH reckons he’ll attempt to sort out the garden.

    Gratitudes
    No rain during our walk
    Tidy house
    Homemade bread
    Relaxing weekend on the cards

A NSD. Slowly clearing the kitchen and my room but shoulder is painful. Eating better - raw stir fry mix with balsamic vinegar salad dressing.

Today I am grateful for my bed, my laptop and my kitchen (we have lots of 'leftovers' but it's just food as far as I am concerned).

Big spend today. Got 3 bday gifts, chicken food & bedding, my big aldi shop in which I stocked up on nappies and wipes and other things.

I now have 130 quid left  pretty tight but then I have a separate budget for all next week as we are away. Im up for the challange, bring it on.

I have all my budgets set aside which ill put in Jans thread on Mon.

Tomorrow will be my 16th NSD as budget doesn't stretch to the KFC I had planned. Besides of the 2, Id rather be able to afford Paris with my bubbas.

Greatful today for- foot salts, den building, made up nursery rhyme lyrics and wax melts :)

Today I am grateful for our stay with my sister, for the train almost running to time, for being on a warm train, for easy connections, for dd travelling well, for dh meeting us off the bus, for MEAT for tea (sis + bil are veggies!), for tea being leftovers still, for my own bed to sleep in, for my new £2 jeans being totally comfy.

Didn't manage a NSD, as I needed bread and bananas, and wanted to look for reduced Christmas cards to put away for next year :) Walked into town first thing, posted an ebay sale. For the bread and bananas, I had enough money on my Iceland Bonus card, on which I tend to save small amounts of change here and there - I don't go in there a lot, but the small amounts do add up over time :)

Paid £6.23 for 30 Christmas cards (half price), nice charity ones :)

Also had to replace the extractor fan in the main bathroom, so drove to Wickes in the next town this afternoon. Managed to get one for £20.99 in the sale, and my brother fitted it (he is an electrician) but an unforeseen expense as it suddenly went kaput :(

    Grateful for:
Free fitting of extractor fan :)
A dry day so I could walk into town :)
Half price Christmas cards to squirrel away to make a saving for next year :)
Having odd little bits of savings to use when I have spent quite enough money already in supermarkets this month!

    Hi all,

Today is NSD #16. Pleased with this.

Not much to do today, tidy up and get the house ready for my children's friends tomorrow.

Super excited for Jan. Nothing planned for tonight other than watching a film & playing cards with hub. I always enjoy chatting about the year passed and the year ahead.

Greatful for- hub making me a coffee in bed, my friend letting me pick her brains about Paris, being able to consider 2017 a successful year :)

    Morning all,

Spendy day yesterday but got a £2.50 gluten free pizza in the supermarket to take with me to my friends. I got a few other veggies so I can keep batch cooking.

Today will be spendy as I’m going to the zoo (free entry!) but having brunch when we get there. Then it’ll be home for a quiet night with the dogs/cat for new year.

This year I’m ending with more debt tham I started with but I have my new bathroom, new windows in my bedroom and a new car, so I’ve moved away from the small frivolous spends and am forging forwards with house improvements. Plus now I own my house myself :)

  • It’s New Year’s Eve :j :j

I have managed a NSD so I’m now at 12/15. Didn’t hit target, but was over 10 so I’m happy with that. Will aim for the full 18 NSD next month (fingers crossed).

I’ve been thinking, and reflecting on this year and my target - which was ‘save, save, save’. The goal was to save for our wedding. We knew we wouldn’t be able to save for it all as we moved it forward a year because of our grandad, but wanted to save what we could so that we didn’t have to put too much on our credit card.

We saved roughly £6,000. It was difficult and we went without but If we HAD to save that amount again, we could. We’ve already done it. I take comfort on that.

Our wedding was wonderful, but we do have some debt on the Credit Card now, but it’s a manageable amount. I’m looking forward to 2018 - our honeymoon to Sorrento is in May. I also hope that we will be able to make headway on the house as it still needs some work to it.

I’ve had a lovely New Year’s Eve so far - we went to Rufford Abbey and had a walk around with the dog. It was nice to go out and visit somewhere. I have a nice bit of salmon for dinner (from the freezer - was a YS bargain at 50p!). I also have a nice round of Brie that I intend in popping in the oven later with Homemade bread for a toned-down, just me and the hubby, New Year’s Eve celebration. I also have a bottle of bubbly that I will pop into the fridge to see the new year in, hopefully I’ll make it this year (last year I fell asleep!!)
