I bought two diaries, as well. I bought an A5 one nearly an inch thick, to hold all mum's and my appointments and commitments and was going to try to use it instead of having seperate to do and shopping lists. Then I decided it was too big to haul around everywhere (since my shoulder started to bother me) so bought a small one. It has 2 pages for the week so it's twice the size of my current one (although that has embroidery designs in so probably the same).

Decided that will be my 'daytime' one - hope to add phone numbers, potted history of mum's illnesses with dates and an inspirational quote to the top of each page - some of this is already listed/ part done but want it all together. The large one will be my 'end of the day' book - more like a bullet journal, with daily gratitudes, plans, goals and things I would like to do.

Currently resting on the bed having taken painkillers. Afterwards i am doing the final assault on the washing up, putting one of my 'trees' up in the space at the end of the worktop (before anyone can put more dirty pots there), then going to scrub the bathroom and get in the bath. Once I have my clean clothes on I can sweep or chop veg but not doing anything else heavy.

Agreed with their first guests that as long as they have food, somewhere to sit, sleep and eat, that is enough. If I come back on Wednesday morning I will have 2 more days to clean/ tidy/ sort more (getting some more ruthless parameters in place) then next weekend (especially if Weds/ Thurs just means washing all the pots they have used). everyone gulping down bowls of turkey stew (and asking for more).

Going to mum's around tea time (not fixed, could be later as long as I have reasonable hopes of getting a taxi). Not sure if I am taking the laptop or not - I have reading, sewing, a colouring book and a puzzle book, so maybe time away from the screen would be good.

Merry Christmas to all turtles (peace and comfort to Kerry Woman) and I hope those of you with small children get some sleep.

Not intending to spend any money today - if anything is needed it can come out of DS3's money.

Today I am grateful for the house looking quite good (far from perfect but when I get my first tree up - may put the other one in my room if I have time), for candles and Christmas music and nearly having finished the bottle of 'grue' medicine (it is working).
My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.

    Day 24
Today was a spend day. Was only a small amount. Will update notebook etc when I get back to the flat.
    Grateful for:
    Having a chilled out day.
Given a free glass of mulled wine in a lovely little shop.
    Spending time with family.
    Having a little afternoon nap.
    Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas.
Sending hugs to those in need of them.

  • Just getting into the Christmas spirit with a small (?) glass of bubbly and a very easy tapas type meal for the three of us. I hope you all have a lovely night tonight and Christmas Day tomorrow.
Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.
  • Happy Christmas Eve

I’ve bagged another NSD today so I’m now at 8/15.

I’ve felt productive today. My cold is nearly gone and it meant I could actually do stuff in the house. Front room and dining room is sorted, cleaned and hoovered. I’ve extended the dining table for Tuesday and got out the emergency chairs (aka. The garden chairs).

I’ve prepped the vegetables for Boxing Day dinner (my Mum is coming around with my brother and her partner so it’ll be a Christmas dinner, just on Boxing Day instead.) I’ve also got some red cabbage braising slowly over the hob.

Visited my grandmother and grandad this afternoon - we shared a big Camembert that we cooked in the oven with crusty bread. It was delicious although I’m now too full to eat the fish I had defrosted. DH will have to eat it.

I’ve realised the last food shop spend was roughly £5.00 than I thought so updated my signature accordingly. I’m okay with it though - £15 over budget. It could have been a lot worse!

    Gratitudes:
    My grandparents
Happy that my grandad is looking a bit better since his hospital visit
That my cold is nearly gone
    For freshly washed pjs

The kids are laden with dosh, and gift cards. I will pay for parking tomorrow and hopefully nothing else. Let them spend their money, I may find a YS or two.
