sashanut - that's bad news about your oil.

We had snow overnight so of course this morning was fun and games on the roads, mostly clear but people drive at a snails pace which doesn't help. Took an age to de-ice the car so I think I may invest in one of those foil things for the windscreen as we seem to be set for a cold winter. In fact thinking about it I believe we have one that we had as a sun protector for the caravans front windows. Will have to look for that.

All the beds have been stripped this morning and one load is washed, it will all have to go in the drier unfortunately. I'm not looking forward to dog walking on the ice, the dog has in built crampons and charges about making it difficult for me to stay upright.

DD was horrified this morning that I was wearing bright yellow leg warmers - always fun to horrify a 14 year old.

Plan to get the rest of the house cleaned today then put the Christmas tree up in the lounge, will do the one in the dining room tomorrow probably.

  • Hello!

Early check in today but got my 2nd NSD! Whoop!
Proud because I'm always at work at 7am on a Friday which usually means a bacon sarnie from Gregg's and a boots lunch meal deal. I took both brekkie and lunch in today from home.

Dinner tonight is stir fry, using up lots of veg in the fridge.

Grateful today for my Xmas jumper keeping me warm at work, an early finish, DH nearly stripped all the wallpaper off in the spare room and the small sprinkling of snow making me feel all christmassy :)

    Evening all,

I’ll spend later at a Christmas meal out but not spent anything else, so pleased with that.

I’ve been out and walked the dogs this evening and stripped and changed the bed before work so I’m happy with my productivity so far. I’m just about to wrap a few presents and write a few cards to take tonight and tomorrow.

Today I am grateful for my warm coat, for getting what we needed from sainz, for swift bus journeys, for a hot bath, for my sch cmas fair going well (I raised about £50 for a charity), for the lovely pta who serve us so well, for dd and dh msking the journey over tomy fair, for leftovers that were quick to zap and eat for tea.

Exterminate Facebook gone from phone. Not sure whether I'll continue that for next 10 day set or exterminate something else. Regenerate - will think about that (too tired tonight)

  • NSD no 3. At least being snowed in is good for the budget. Grateful for us all being home safe, plenty of food and logs in and so far the electric has been fine. Still snowing so probably not going far tomorrow.

    Day 8
Was a spend day. Will try and update signature/notebook with spends the next few days.
My Mum's wheelchair was taken away.
Did get Mum's death certificate today. Have to sort out registering her death and start the funeral arrangements.
Had an issue with the priests from my parish church. They were very insensitive. After my Mum's funeral I will not be going not back there.
Did make a donation online to Salvation Army which will go towards supplying a food hamper and gifts for one family in need. Will still do toiletries for local Salvation Army.
    Grateful for:
    Having a brisk walk.
Having a laugh with a friend tonight who helped me with a few things in the flat.
    Very understanding GP.
Been able to speak to another friend this afternoon.

  • I’m still on NSD 1. Used some of the entertainment budget last night and had pizza. Used leftovers for today’s lunch so fed us twice. I spent some money today buying new Christmas lights.

I have to have a NSD this weekend and pull it back next week. I’ve been working 8/8.5 hour days (not including 2/2.5 hours of daily travel) and it has taken it out of me.

I’m hoping a nice relaxing weekend will recharge me. I’ve got a week and a half before I’m off so that way s motivating me somewhat! I’ll also grab some NSD then as well!

Kerry Woman so glad you have support from friends, family and your GP.

I'm back. Just lost my post so will try to be brief. Had a lovely time, mum and I both tired at the same time, happy to have a nap between the day's outing and dinner and then go back to the bedroom after to watch vet programmes, read and sew (something I was desperate to post, sent yesterday). I also made up, wrote and posted most of my Christmas cards - glad to reduce the pile of embroidered Christmas motifs as they need careful storage.

We had adventure, drama and lots of exploring and that was just the journey to meet the coach. Tired and a bit damaged in part due to my water habit. I have been lugging in excess of 4l of water per day in addition to drinking the lion's share of the 2 x 1lt bottles provided on the table at dinner and the 2lt provided at breakfast (for the whole room). Mum didn't like the tap water either. She drinks tea mostly but prefers water for taking her medicine, so more for me to carry.

I also walked for what seemed like miles in search of 'normal' shops ie not ones that sold £100+ dresses, any of 200 cheeses or 96 cocktails, just somewhere to buy a reasonable sized bottle of water for under £1.

Technically every day has been a spendy day but I have spent nothing (maybe 10p). Mum gave me £100 before we set off so that I could 'go to the bar, the counter, the till' and told me to tell her when it ran out. Have tried hard to keep track but may have missed the odd toilet charge.

Think I will say I have spent £50 including the £20 mad money I allowed myself (Christmas decorations, this afternoon). Did stop myself and have resisted countless beautiful but expensive things. Most of the purchases were in charity shops and craft shops and I bought a Big Issue (mum sent me back to give him her gloves, he was very grateful but refused them), a macmillan angel and put piles of pennies in various collection boxes.

Food was wonderful and plentiful, staff were always helpful. I have also been looking at myself in a large mirror all week - not in a hyper critical/ beat myself up way, just a realistic look at how my body is and recognising the need for change (one of my 5 things for next year but making a start now)

Today I am grateful for a good holiday, for seeing the snow but not being out in it and that my house is still in one piece (have looked at the kitchen and came out again - will sort things tomorrow - hint, I have been away for 5 days, there are 5 empty toilet rolls on the bathroom floor)
My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.
