  • Busy day again with another late finish from work. Work lunch today as my boss is retiring but didn't mind going as I have worked with him for 10 years and we get on well. So blew my NSD but there is talk of overtime going seeing as half the team is off sick! May as well volunteer as will probably get the work anyway as deadline is looming. May be a busy few weeks.

    Hi all turtles :j

    Checking in: 6/31

    NSD: 2/15

Debt destruction: Have no debt now but not so long ago were 93K in debt so I know that I need to make sure I don't go down that slippery slope again...but we are on a fairly fixed income so need to rein the unnecessary spends which have been creeping up..

    Exterminate Nothing bought for myself

Clear up, clean up and take control Few bits put back into dining room & cleared up in other room ready for friend's regular visit. Still a load of bags in dining room & now in bedroom. Need to tackle tomorrow but running out of days....

Clean up your way of talking to yourself – clean away the negative talk and be kind and positive to yourself. Will try to do this, and try to take a compliment when it's offered, not something I'm good at!
Let yourself sparkle. Felt much better when I got ready to see friend, washed hair did makeup & put on clean clothes....Take control of your finances, your time, your habits, and your health. Indeed

Explore your local area – Will attempt to explore local area when we go to Ireland, there are lots of opportunities, it's such a beautiful place.

Mental health Very poor sleep for some reason, woke @ 3.17 am & then didn't sleep again till had to get up 3 hours later...mental fog for rest of day...

Write down 4 gratitudes each day. Grateful for: Visit from friend & her delight in her 'alternative' Advent calendar. She, like DD is a crisp lover, so DD came up with idea of tying on different bags of crisps, one for each day. The final one is of course Christmas Dinner flavour....Friend was thrilled to bits.., Happy to have HM meals today from stores, very tasty & much healthier.

Budget Need to do this but not got my head around finances yet, watch this space. better write some stuff down otherwise will forget..now written down but need to add up etc..

Evaluate the year you have had: Year was much better than last year, still quite a bumpy ride but am grateful for what we have.. Need to plan 5 things that will happen next year. Still a WIP
New start JAN15 - NOT BUYING IT 2015 . Long haul DFW #145 : 2011 DEBTBUSTING : £5500 OD GONE, £2000 OD - GONE £93,610.30 cc & loan debt - GONE 27.6.14 FINALLY DEBT & MORTGAGE FREE :happyhear

The sooner I start the better :)

Today I am greatful for my my mums friend buying my boys something for xmas- she is going through chemo & Im astounded she can still be thinking of others, for my boss letting me take my friend to an appointment- I work for good, fair people & I appreciate that is hard to come by, for the lives my kids have, I am always greatful but specially at Christmas

misstara - hope you are feeling better soon.

I did my sainsburys shop last night using one of their vouchers plus a bonus points and triple points voucher. We have been saving our nectar points all year for Christmas and there is no way we will spend it all so quite a bit to carry over to next year.

I got some nice YS bargains there too, large packs of minced beef from £3.50 to 90p, I got two packs and split them into two for the freezer so they will make 4 meals in total, a fancy fish dish down from £3.90 to £1.10 which serves two also bread and chicken.

I need to call at Asda or Lidl perhaps and get some grapes for lunchboxes, I don't like Sainsbury's grapes.

    Plan for today

    Paid work
    walk the dog
    long run
    cleaning
make bubble and squeak for tea
    nice bath this evening.

Evaluate - Starting a junior isa for our DS will start to teach him how not to manage money!! He is 6 on 19th December, is this a good age to introduce pocket money and savings? I have bought him a money box for his birthday and so far I have been putting 10ps in it to start it off.

DS is 6.5. He doesn't get pocket money yet as he doesn't need it as such. However, he knows he has a saving account and once a year we raid the piggy bank and pay that in (Had both since birth). Occasionally on a Friday, we let DS and DD (only 3, so guided by us) take let's say 50p to the shop to buy some sweets and let him work out what he can get for it (student union shop still does 10/15p sweets) and what he would have left over for the piggy bank or next week. We'll maybe start soon too though as he gets more interested in buying magazines etc and he could learn to save up his sweet money to buy a monthly magazine instead etc.

Thanks Thriftylass. He's learning about coins and notes in school so think its a good time. He's also said he wants to buy his Grandparents a little box of chocolates for Christmas so want to give him a little money so he can choose himself.

    Day 7 #19 Checking in...
Debt Plan - NSD still 3/15 will be going to the shops after work but hope for another NSD tomorrow.
I'm kind of excited to start 2018 debt busting and sorting out proper accounts for birthdays/Christmas 2018 and savings accounts and pocket money for my DS.
Exterminate - Don't think I'll be going back to spending hours on FB so this part of the challenge has been great for me :)
Clear Up - Sorted my jewellery box lots of items binned. Even found a necklace that will be nice for my night out on Saturday instead of my usual daily one. The box looks really neat and pretty now too.
    Explore - Nothing here today
Mental Health - Good night sleep, nothing going on at school today, first normal day in ages will do me good.
Budget - Very stretched. Items I bought yesterday were a tad more and a m7s voucher I wanted to use didn't work :( Cards were cheaper but other bits more expensive. First time ever I doubled up our chilli for tea last night and will have again tonight as we will all be later home this evening.
    Evaluate - Plans made
Remember - Another tin donated to food bank and a £5 voucher I can't use given to a work collegue who was really grateful.

Grateful for a normal day, a good nights sleep, my DS being excited for Christmas and his birthday, tea already to be warmed up. Also grateful it hasn't snowed yet.......
