I’m pleased you are eating better than you were. It’s a joke the things they need for secondary school - do you know anybody in the older years who can tell you what is used and what isn’t. My friend bought all sorts of science aprons and they were never used once for her son.January spends - £587.586

Yes milann I know someone who is quite 'high in the ranks there. She said year 7 is really strict on uniform and equipment checks but as they go through the years it gets less. The list is quite random. Obviously the stationary is understandable and the calculator. Padlock etc. The rules on shoes are really specific too! Haircuts. 3 different sports kits. Its a minefield really.“Once you hit rock bottom, that's where you perfectly stand; That's your chance of restarting, but restarting the way.”5

A waste of blooming money if you ask me.
That could be best spent on other things!
I bought a highly expensive purple blazer when my DS went into S1.
He wore it a handful of times.
Then a new one in S6 which he at least wore.
All the senior pupils at least wore them.I am a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Mortgage Free Wannabe & Local Money Saving Scotland & Disability Money Matters. See he will have no choice they have to wear the blazer. Even in the hot weather etc. If its really hot they can remove the jumper with the heads permission. But they must wear their shirt/tie and blazer at all times.
I thought current school was bad for logos but everything has to have the logo. Except the white shirt. There's different colour ties for different years. The 3 sports kits have to have the logo. Football boots. Trainers for indoor and outdoors. Different colour socks to match each set. I don't know how he will remember everything ha!“Once you hit rock bottom, that's where you perfectly stand; That's your chance of restarting, but restarting the way.”5 -
It's just dire.
Different coloured socks!!

I hope the damned school has a bursary fund for those who can't afford to provide the uniform!
I Believe.....
That it isn't always enough, to be forgiven by others.
Sometimes, you have to learn to forgive yourself.
Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery
Today is a gift. That's why it is called the present.
happiness isn't achieved by getting extra things,
but by getting rid of the things that make you unhappy7 -
I really don't understand this. Do they learn more just because they have a certain shirt? I don't think so.
Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.7 -
I can't believe schools are still doing all this array of different items of uniform/equipment in this day and age. Where do they think parents get the money from, it's ridiculous. He won't have time to learn anything, he'll be too busy working out which colour socks go with which outfit.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)7

It might be worth contacting the school as @Chrystal says, to see if they can help through their bursary fund - and also ask about sale of lost property (good source of sports clothes, lunch boxes and other kit) and whether the Parent/Staff Association sell on outgrown clothing to raise funds (ironically for the bursary fund!) - and register an early interest - they will like that you are looking to do some for yourselves as well as asking about the bursary.
And I'm sure there will be people on here with stationery that might come your way if you list it, come the summer hols - having recently retired I find I was something of a stationery hoarder (my own, not work's) for my WFH days - I do like a nice bit of stationery (it's my star sign, I am told !)Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

Still here. Still shielding.
We are all well though.
Struggling to get everything dry with this weather. Youngest still isn't back to what she was. Meaning the washer is on at least 4 times a day. The heating uses a fortune in gas and makes it too hot indoors. Yet its too wet and not quite warm enough to get things dried and back in use without it. Outside has been far to wet. Still plodding on with no hoover. Should definitely help lose weight using a sweeping brush for all the floors.
All ds's and youngests friends have returned to school today. Bit sad DS is missing out on the last few weeks at school.
Still eating better. We feel amazing its feels such a luxury having a 'real' shop every week.
There's lots of negatives I could post but won't. Focusing on the good stuff.
Hope you're all well.
