When did you first get into arrears? 2016? 2015? Before this?
  • In 2015 I was going thru domestic violence and had problems with mental health I went to court on the court date on Feb and was told in court to pay 114 per week which I did every week until I came out of work.
When I called one vision and explained the gentleman said to pay what I could until my benefits where sorted so I did.
When I went to the one stop shop for my housing benefit the lady sorted it all out. I asked her how much I would need to pay she said 16.03 per week + 5 for arrears as that is what the court had asked for which was what I then started to pay these payments show up on my statement as does the benefit payment

The £20 you were asked to pay is the difference between your rent and the amount HB covers. If you've been paying £21, then you've been only paying off your arrears at £1 per week.
  • My rent arrears was 2191 at the beginning I started paying 114 in 2015 when I was giving the court date. Every 4 weeks I was getting 12.64 from housing benefit as well. I was also paying extra each month of 100 pound out of my wages to try and get the rent arrears down before I went to court

Why is what the housing benefit lady said relevent to the £114 that the housing association had told you to pay?

The housing benefit lady has got nothing to do with what your housing association asked you to pay in rent. When did you ask them how much to pay?
  • When I came out of work I had to reclaim housing benefit I didn't know how much to pay so I asked her and she worked out what I was entitled to and said that was the shortfall to pay I asked them on the 10th when I received a letter saying I had breached and they said it was 28 a week

Are you sure when you were working you weren't supposed to pay your rent + the £114 the court asked for.

Then when you lost your job the rent arrears went down to £5 per week as you could no longer afford the previous amount due to not working.

Meaning the discrepancy comes from the amount you should have been paying whilst working not the amount your are paying now?
  • As I was no longer working I could not afford to pay full rent
  • No I was paying 114 for over a year. As that was the 109 full rent plus 5 for arrears I was also paying an extra 100 per month towards the arrears. One vision set up the dd for 114 per week. And I paid the 100 with my debut card using the automated service
