Good morning all, can you believe it I only got out of bed at 11.30. Got up at 8 to put DD off to school then went back. DS off school as he's not feeling too well. I can't believe how lazy/tired I am.
I popped down J's last night to give his house the one over. He had the estate agent calling and 8.30 this morning to value the house for the property settlement. He's absolutely gutted that a woman he brought into this country at the cost of 1,000 of pounds can do this to him. She really is out for everthing she can get from him. Thank god the house prices have gone down as I don't think his house will be worth as much now as it was 3 years ago when she married him!!!
Am going to pop into the local town after lunch and pay the Mazuma cheque into the Olympic challenge fund. I've already counted it in the total just haven't had a lot of time this week to pay it in. Then off to Asda's to pick up a few odds and ends to see me through the weekend.
Have had one sale on Amazon this morning which has made me £5.05 and have got one item ending on e-bay in 3 hrs time, it's got 5 watchers and has a reserve price of £45. I really hope it's going to sell this time!0 -
Have not had a bad day today. Have totalled up my olympic challenge money and I'm over the £350 mark. I'm quite pleased with it. Seem to have done really well this week.
Had a letter back from British Gas today regarding my complaint. I'd sent the letter to the wrong place. Fortunately for me they have passed it onto the correct department and I should have a reply within 10 working days. I'll be looking forward to that!!!
Still got lots of stuff on e-bay, managed to sell the watch at long last and hopefully some of my other stuff will go over the next week or so. Am not selling any item that will earn me big money but all the odd £5's will soon add up.0 -
Didn't go to bed until 1.30 am and feel absolutely shattered this morning. J stayed up last night so I had to get up early to get him to work. Actually it wasnt early enough and it doesn't look as if he'll get there until about 10.30!!!
All my Quidco, PayPal and Amazon money is trickling into the olympic challenge account so it's looking good. I must admit though I'm absolutely skint at the moment but going to plod on as I get my child benefit on Tuesday so I should be able to manage until then.
Haven't got anything ending on e-bay until Monday night so there'll be no money making there unless I get any Buy It Now sales. Will keep my fingers crossed for that. Got a busy day today catching up on housework. Not going to venture out, its too cold and too wet.0 -
Hello GR...I'm shattered like you today hun. Picked DD up at 2am this morning, and have been up about an hour, but I've got that walking in treacle feeling. Aches and pains too, hope I'm not coming down with anything else, roll on Summer!!!
It's not raining here GR but it's certainly cold. I know the rain is on it's way though. Got to pop out with OH to pick a few things up but a day in like you, sounds more appealing.
I hope British Gas take your complaint seriously. At one time these companies seemed to care about customer satisfaction but with most things now, that doesn't seem to be the case anymore.
Going to make a coffee and toasted bagel and get myself dressed! Then it's off out in the cold.
Catch you later hun.
Have a warm snuggly day.

Hi Diz, the warm snuggly day is going well. I'm still in my pyjamas and I've done loads of ironing. I've even managed to make £6.50. I sold a kids jacket on e-bay during the week and the bloke came to pick it up this morning. I will have to pop out. I really need to get some money and a birthday card and to post 2 letters. Will think about going out in a little while. When I get back then it'll be time to bath and change to go down J's for the night. Where does the time go?0

Forgot to mention in my bid to helping my sister become debt free, Abbey have agreed to refund all of her charges from her current account under that hardship clause. That means that her overdraft is paid off and also about £250 off her loan. Was so pleased I've started the wheels in motion to try to reclaim her charges from GE Money. It only amounts to £74 but her balance is £272 so that will go a long way into making a dent into her repayment plan and bring her debt under the £200 mark. Wish her other debt was as easy to sort out.0

Great news GR, I hope she appreciates all you are doing.:j0

Thanks Wendy. I don;t think she does appreciate it though, she keeps hinting for me to help her financially, it started with big hints about helping her pay off her debts and now she's trying it through the kids i.e. her DS is desperate for trainers and she doesn't know where she'll get the money from.
I've worked my a$$ off to become debt free and I'm not in a position to help her. Does that sound selfish? I suppose it does but nobody helped me when I needed it so my decision has been made!!!0 -
NO NO NO it does not seem selfish, and don't forget GR you were there constantly trying to make sense of her debts and sorting it all out for her.
You've given a huge amount of your time to this, you can't possibly do anymore. If you bail her out financially I don't think that would teach her anything. She needs to learn the hard way and then she may not get into trouble again. Sounds harsh but like you say, you did it hun, and it was hard, but look how amazingly well you're doing now.

Thanks Diz, I know your right. I'm trying my hardest to help her out but I seem to have used all my fighting spirit to get myself out of the mess that I was in.
I do feel guilty but deep down I know that if I were to bail her out (not that I've got a spare £30K) she'd only get herself in a mess again!0
