yes - that is a small rise after 20% fall from 80$ down to $60 for oil

indeed the price was moving sharply downwards when PP issued the price rise notice

So how much was the increase. And who is paying the balance of that price increase? Surely until you pay the extra 20% you cannot expect the prices to fall back to that original level?

It's not as simple as you are hoping to make out, as I am sure you are aware.
Energy prices cannot respond instantly to oil prices - not least because energy suppliers have to provide you notice of such a change (at least when going up) .. and I'm sure as consumers, we are thankful for some price stability.

If you think you can accurately guess the market, start trading and make yourself a fortune. Most who think they can and follow this advice actually end up losing a fortune .. so be warned.

If a supplier loses a fortune, then you won't have that supplier much longer ... and Ofgem will be forced to act to appoint another supplier for you. I'm not sure as consumers we want this too often either.

As this is not really feedback on Pure Energy, I suggest we leave it there for this thread.
There was a separate thread created yesterday to discuss this topic

I don't understand the direction of your argument, now why you assume you control the direction of this thread. I wanted a response from pure planet - not some stranger on the internet.

I think questioning the pricing structure of my supplier is exsctly the sort of feedback that consumers should be discussing. PP marketing is about how they reflect wholesale prices (which can be turbulent), and so if it looks like they were heading the way of the Big 6 by rising prices quickly and lowering them slowly I would be very intersted to know that, and I would be out the door the next month despite being a fan

  • Have a look at the mix of fuels that make up the electricity generation for the UK at http://www.gridwatch.templar.co.uk/

Note how nuclear, wind, gas make up the 3 largest sources of production.

It is also worth pointing out that for every £1 that we pay for our energy about 38p covers the wholesale cost of energy.

How quickly are we going to see a reduction in price, now that the global markets for oil and other energy costs have fallen significantly in the past month?

    Hi Mark88man
It's fair to say that gas and power prices are down from their peak in September, but they're still materially higher than the position at the start of the year and back into 2017.
We make every effort to try and ensure we deliver the best value for our Members, but as prices remained higher for longer, we had to increase the price.
Equally if subsequent wholesale price declines mean that the cost to us falls, we will pass these savings on to our Members, in line with our pass-through principle.

  • I have just submitted readings, some feedback. After entering the reading it requests a verification photo, on IOS, it automatically opens the moments folder and doesn't allow you to change folders to find the photo - also the next button after confirming the photo is off the screen. The app needs tweaking or you will have problems with iPhone users not being able to add verification photos.

After agreeing to switch I received an email from MSE saying Pure Planet refused the switch but couldn't say why. I switched again to British Gas but have discovered that Pure Plane took my first direct debit payment and have charged me over £76 for 22 days of fuel which is way above what we'd normally pay at this time of year. As I can't speak to a person I am unable to dispute this. It's very frustrating and I wouldn't recommend based on this. The robot tells me I have to wait up to 6 weeks for a refund of the rest of my direct debit payment.

I also received an incorrect email from the MSE Cheap Energy Club saying that Pure Planet had refused the switch when this was not the case. If Pure Planet took a direct debit payment this would suggest that the switch had actually gone through. I checked with Pure Planet who confirmed that my switch was taking place and the process continued without any problems.

I think your issue is with the MSE Cheap Energy Club, rather than Pure Planet?

I joined Pure Planet in September and I've had no problems at all so far, although it was a bit confusing at first as there was an technical issue with the app. All worked fine once that was resolved though. One thing I'm a bit confused about - I've only been asked for meter readings once, when I first switched. Should I be sending these regularly? (Hope it's ok to ask that in this thread, as not technically a review!)
