FF updated yesterday to 57, broke the addons I most use, so have reinstalled 56. Will see if new versions come out, but if not, then maybe try Waterfox.

The spell check problem was solved by going back to Firefox 56 and then upgrading to version 57. This brought up the expected spell check option. The English (UK) dictionary could then be added by right-clicking on the forum's text entry box and selecting 'Languages > Add Dictionaries'.

I'm sure people who install Windows 10 afresh (rather than upgrade) and then install the latest version of Firefox (57) onto the system, would find the same problem as me. It must be a scenario that Mozilla overlooked but will probably fix eventually.

Problem now is, it won't work on v56 and below now!!

Online Banks won't let you keep using ver 56 forever.
You can get ESR here, which should be a better option:

  • FFQ is still a bloated, memory hungry mess.

  • Having installed Quantum and played around for a week or so, I thought that I had cracked it. No-Script wasn't working initially and then it suddenly sprang into life.
From that moment it went downhill. Sites failed to load, No-Script pop ups all over the place even when disabled.
To preserve my sanity went back to V56 and normality has returned. (Although No-Script is not available)

In my opinion, Quantum has been rushed leaving users as beta testers.
