I have tried all things (I think) but without success. Fortunately, I only make the odd typo when typing in the forum's text area but it is handy if a spell checker picks up on them. Quite often use a Notepad replacement that has a spell checker for long posts.
Error! - Keyboard not attached. Press any key to continue.

Well, I don't know why but v57 for me is crappio. Very slow and unresponsive. I reinstalled it but still the same. It auto updated even after I told previous version not to. So I went back to v56, told it not to auto update, opened up browser and it auto updated.

Now I've got Slimjet which is very good.

Rather than using old versions of Firefox, why not try Pale Moon? "Firefox as is used to be" - but secure and up-to-date. Most firefox addons work on it, including those that no longer work in Firefox like tabmix plus and session manager:
    https://www.palemoon.org/

I'm using it, and will maybe revert to Firefox proper if and when the extensions catch up with it
If what I said helped you, please "Thank" the relevant post. It cheers me up somewhat..

Nightmare continues. So this morning I click icon and page opens then Skype did an update. Restarted laptop, now bloody Firefox will not open. Thought okay will uninstall and reinstall. But now got Firefox is open close before continuing. But its not open and will not open. Went into Task manager and deleted Firefox all the way. Finally install and now keep getting loads of pages saying Firefox blocking as the page has not safe! This includes Google! Oh and one site I visit a Box: The j Query must be included before the smooth scroll. J.S File The plugin will not work propery. I think they have pushed the Quantum before it is totally ready.

Sounds like it could be a malware infection.

Try firing Firefox up in its Safe mode and see if it works then. If so its usually an extension.

Hold down the SHIFT key before you double-click left on the Firefox shortcut to get the box for safe mode. (this is not the same as Windows Safe Mode!)
  • Gotto say not impressed at all, most of my ad ons dont work now, gone back to the previous version

I finally got it all working, deleting things from task manager then reinstalling again. Then had to fiddle with anti virus and do updates as site fine then coming up their certificate was out of date. I did a malaware clean and nothing found. I still think Firefox released this too soon and it has gremlins.

Think everything seems to be working okay again. Fingers crossed. I also downloaded grammby(sp) which spell checks and also your grammer.
