Tools from the top bar, then Options, scroll down to Firefox Updates (near the bottom of the page) and pick the one you'd like to be live.

That should sort it. Thanks Jon.

Yeh. seems to be a massive improvement.
    Has it been completely rewritten?

It might have been. In the past I've tried installing the 64 bit version but it always seemed to revert to a 32 bit one. This Quantum v57.0 is 64 bit and seems quite fast.

    No issues so far.
  • TBH it is so similar that until I read this thread I thought it was just yet another minor update. :o
I spent seconds reconfiguring it how I like it and it's not much different to how it was before.
    Quicker?
If it is I've not noticed.

The addon I can't seem to find a decent replacement for is TabMix Plus. Has anyone got a replacement for that?

There isn't one (that I could find). That's the reason I went back to the last version, I'll wait until they release a version of TMP that works then I'll try it again.

No Fox clocks for differnet time zones, any alternatives?

    I've used http://www.engnetglobal.com/tips/engclocks/ for years.

Just a small widget that you can customise and pin in the corner when needed.

  • I am staying at 52ESR until next late June next year because essential extensions will not work with anything newer.

After that I will abandon FF.

For anyone who wants to continue with an older release which supports their extensions then I suggest that you check out the ESR of the branch which supports your extensions. They are available on the Mozilla FTP. There are also portable versions if you want to try them.

BTW there is no reason why you cannot install multiple versions of FF providing that you create profiles for each version and label them so you know which to use. You could always make copies and edit the profiles so that you create a duplicate which can be upgraded. ;)

Version 57 has just arrived in my Linux Mint updates. I chose to update and all seems OK and it is much faster.

Has anyone else lost their spell checker?

I was getting a java message when I tried to launch Firefox. I asked on here and was told to uninstall and reinstall. I did a refresh which has worked but now my spell checker has stopped working. Help:(
