I went to sleep in a shower once - been sailing for well over 24 hours, tired, cold and smelly - and the water in the clubhouse was so deliciously hot, I sat on the floor and dropped off, with it cascading all over. They got worried something had happened to me ....
Funniest shower was somewhere in central America, where water is in very short supply - so that was a quickie in a hand made cement shower tray painted brown so the dirt wouldn't show, and a saloon-type door made of chicken wire. Great short shower.
At home - no, I love the running water.0 -
Up until 4 years ago, I would shower in Summer and bath in Winter. When we had an en suite put in I discovered that newer electric showers are far more efficient, than old. It takes about 30 seconds to warm again.Member #14 of SKI-ers club

When we go camping we use either our tent or trailer tent, which means if there's just a loo and tap on site we have to wash in the tent. I can do a full body wash and wash & condition my waist length hair with one kettle of boiling water mixed with half a bucket of cold. And then my Hubby (who barely has any hair) will use the nice soapy water I've rinsed my hair with into a plastic trug to wash himself down after. There's definately a knack to it but if people want to save water and heating costs at home, this would be the way.
Actually I do remember when the kids were really tiny I'd have a bath with them to save heating lots of water (once I'm in the bath there's less space for the water!) and then Hubby would pop in after us for a quick wash down too. We can't be the only family that does this, surely? People are always going on about how romantic it is to bathe together after all.Val.0 -
We turn the water off during shower's because the water here is flipping expensive, the water doesn't seem to go cold at all. We have a combi boiler.
We also run the cold off into a bucket to flush the loo.Treat other's how you like to be treated.

When I was living out in southern India, I would bath/shower the indian way i.e. bucket of water (either cold from the well or warmed by the sun from the storage tank on the roof) and a jug, pour water all over, soup up, wash hair, rinse off, conditioner, rinse off and bobs your uncle. Mind you, using a bucket and jug to rinse yourself off after using the loo takes some getting use to!;)SPC Nbr.... 1484....£800 Saved £946 in 2013)

marmiterulesok - I'm the same as you, no problems with the water cooling down, also am concerned about wasting water as well as energy, so take about 3 mins max for the whole works!Keeping two cats and myself on a small budget, and enjoying life while we're at it!0
