Soooooooo close to opening day:j:j
Thank you for looking after us SueUu.It has been a lot quieter this year, and I don't know why.It will be interesting to see if lots of people are simply lurking, and will come out for declaration day.(Come out, come out, wherever you are!!)
Re potting,last week I potted three £2 coins.Today I potted £15 in notes,and a £2 coin.SPC #36 :staradminx 8.SPC7=£751.10 SPC8=£651.04 SPC9=£843.00 SPC10=£872.76
Pinecone £301,Valued Opinions £10.500 -
I am bagging up any coins I find,so £15 is going into my credit union account this afternoon at the family history group. Its great that I can hand in say 3 £2 coins,£2 in 20p coins,a couple of £1 bags, and maybe £2 in 50p coins, total £12 and the credit union will take it all in one go. No waiting to get to £5 or £10 targets in bank bags, and I enjoy the way every week or two I can put a little in the account.:)
£347 in the union so far this year, probably £60 still in the actual sealed pot..I'll open that on Sunday when I do my usual fortnightly purse emptying, and then on we go to Opening Day.:D

Also life itself seems to be so busy and stressful for many people, everything is hurried.everyone is multitasking, and there just dont seem to be enough hours in the day.
Even me who has been a semi invalid for years, stuck in the house with plenty of time to read and post on line find myself somehow with much less time to devote to such pleasures.Where does time go.:eek:0 -
Afternoon potters, skulking in to wave at you all
I too would miss SPC if it ever left, this year has been particularly carpy from end of may onwards and I am still trying to sort out the mess so MSE and other sites I visit have kind of got forgotten, I am still potting away, not as much as previous years due to aformentioned carpyness, but still my tins are there and ready for the 1st, and its pretty much the ray of sunshine thats keeping DH and I going at times, 3 times already he has had his hand smacked asking if we can open them  ummm NO! its not time yet!
I actually really enjoy seeing everyone posting about their 10ps and bits of roadkill, even those who have nicked my precious £2 coinsI also like reading about other members highs and lows in their lives, it's nice to celebrate together and commiserate together knowing we are not alone in our problems, if that makes any sense at all.
Anyway, hopefully next year i'll be back on posting form, but until then, you know i'll be around this close to D day!
In potting news, £120 by the side of the tin (I just couldn't bring myself to fold it to pot it, they were shiny new notes! not a crease or mark to be seen!), that was my half of the money from selling all those 'treasures' out of my mums garage over the last few months, also I have finally changed up the 2 old £1 coins I had in my purse and have 2 x £2 coins to be potted plus possibly a bit of shrapnel, I cant remember on that.
I must now relurk as its tea time and I haven't even given it a thoughti'll have a pack of ravenous wild dogs after me if I don't get something on the table!

More and more people got computer and everyone was blogging and posting on sites etc. With the explosion of mobile phones lots of people I know abandoned computers and started using smart phones instead, and IMO they are just not as inviting as a full computer screen to use,and the twitter style of very short comments has come to the fore, and proper conversations ,with often as many as 30 comments or half a dozen members chatting to each other on a topic, has definitely subsided. And tapping in comments on a small phone screen with your thumbs does not lead to long conversations - unless you are a 17 year old, who's never known anything different from a phone.:rotfl:

I agree about the computer screen thing. I'm old-school and whilst I use social media on my phone/iPad, sites like this for me at least require a keyboard where I can rattle off a reply without worrying about typos and auto-correct or whatever. As a touch-typist, you're going to have to prise a tactile keyboard out of my cold, dead fingers and I do love a chunky keyboard, rather than say a laptop-style one although I'm probably even quicker typing on the laptop :rotfl: I do sometimes come on here on the iPad as I can just about touch-type on that but unlike the younger generation I find it impossible to even use two thumbs on my phone. I joined a weight loss (LOL) website 10 years ago when it was in its infancy and had a blog on there that at one point I updated every day, and often more than once. The weight loss aspect fell by the wayside but I kept up my membership, as it were, and am still on there today but only a fraction as active as I was back then.
Anyway, I'm still here although don't think I've ever posted daily but still pop in at least fortnightly if not weekly and would be sorry to see the challenges go as it does somehow keep me motivated to do it :TSPCNo.18 #20 (17 £562.86 16 £678; 15 £1120.92; 14 £416.53; 13 £191.52; 12 £260.48; 11 £480.95; 10 £682.31; 9 £442.64)

Hi Sue-UU and everyone
So is that SIX days?
I wonder who is going to open their tins first? Anyone doing it at midnight?
I work nights, so I might take my tin to work and make everyone count the coins for me when I empty my tin on the canteen table
Best wishes

Hi Sue-UU,
Sorry I missed your post about the lack of people posting on the thread. I know how hard it is for you sometimes to keep this up but I'm another one guilty of not posting due to life getting the way. At the moment lack of sleep because of G being ill is draining all my energy. Please know that we do appreciate all your efforts <<HUGS>> It will be pretty clear on and just after pot opening day how many people are still taking an interest when we need to declare our totals. Personally, I'm getting excited
Thanks so much Sue. Oh and a big HI to all other potters xxSealed Pot Challenge #012

I agree dustydigger and MrsShazbat, I always use my computer screen and keyboard to post on here. It never occurs to me to look on my phone/tablet and as you rightly say, typing is so much easier with a keyboard!
Anyway, hope everyone is looking forward to opening day - 1 week to go :j I've got another £7 to pot today. Hi all great SPC Savers!!
I hope everyone is keeping well, safe too! It's wonderful to see so many of you here and almost ready for DDay!!! :j I shall have to get a wriggle on now as I still have to finish off great-grandchild's blanket off!!
For those of you who unwell in any way, I do hope you get well very soon! Here's love and {{{{hugs}}}} from us all especially for YOU!! :grinheart
It's so good, twigletsmum, to hear how inspired you've been by the other members. So, if you pop your puttings on also, imagine how you'll inspire the others too!!
...and you too are another inspired member, siju, and an inspirer to boot!Fantastic savings added today too!
It's good to see you, Buffy. You've been spending more than saving you say!! Shocking behaviour for certain! You're forgiven also. See you on or around the 1st.dustydigger wrote: »This is my first year doing this challenge. On rounding up all my info on my savings this year, Sue, I have a couple of questions.
1. Can I count in money I made from surveys? Yes, you certainly can! Normally I get a few vouchers from family at Xmas for books, and buy perhaps 5 or 6 books, then just have to rely on the library for reads the rest of the year..This year I have made a tidy amount from amazon vouchers as rewards from doing surveys, and have used those funds to buy about 15 books this year, being able to buy some of the books I need to finish a special reading challenge which would take several years to collect the books from my meagre funds each year. Did it in 6 months, and have all the books I need now - just need to find the reading time. Hope I can count it in! Yes, that's perfectly ok!
2. What about money I have saved up on Tesc*/Icel@nd shop savings cards.Didnt physically go into the pot,but it is savings!
3,Apart from actually saving the coins etc, what about savings I have put in the bank? I do a fortnightly budget and once I have listed all my outlays,I put any surplus straight in the bank.Sometimes it can be a tenner, other times £50. Can that count that count? Yes, that's all fine too! If so,I have had a great year:)
There you go, dustydigger, the answere to all your queries. I always advise new members to read through the 1st post that I slave to do each year - you obviously didn't!!! Don't worry as you're forgiven!I spent some money saved (not in my pot) can I count that in or not? Definitely you can Lucy. Not sure about that one! Put £15 in my pot last weekend, opening day getting closerf!
That'll be fine Lucy, one way or tother it's still saved, well done!!
No need to fret, moneymanager, you're one of those who I know will always turn up as you've been here a long, long time!
I somehow guessed you're in with us for next year, swimminginaseaofdebt!! There will be a link left on this thread to lead you directly over to SPC 12.
Thanks a lot for the constant reminders to us all, mummytummy! I just haven't had time what with one thing and tother. Here's a gold star for your sterling work! :staradmin
Ah bless you, Saver-upper, for popping the answers on to dusty, I've already answered them on my post now, but yours were first which is great! A gold star for your kindness. :staradmin Great savings BTW. Time will tell re the quietness.
I know you're a regular on SPC, jakes-mum, but I also know you have other commitments to see to. Mind you, I know we'd never miss you either, dare I say the term St Trinians always comes to mind when you're about!!!! :rotfl::rotfl:
Yes, I make it 6 DAYS too, Rancid, and that'll soon fly by now!!! WHAT midnight??!!!! Best make it on the dot or very soon after as I've got to be up early in the morning for declarers too. I also begin the new thread SPC 12 soon after midnight on the 1st. For anyone hanging on for that, please be sure to wait until at least the 3rd post of the new thread is on! I always pop a link on the old thread (that will be this one) so you can go through to the former one (SPC 12). It sounds more difficult than it is, I promise you it's not.
Don't worry at all, little_sweetie, I quite understand with G being ill, I just hope he's soon much better, you too with the toll. As you say, life can't help but get in the way a bit, it happens to us all. I look forward to seeing you on the 1st!!!
I forgot my savings last week, so £25 are the pottings of the last 2 weeks.Have a wonderful Friday and great WEEKEND, folks!!
Do keep lovely and warm tomorrow and Saturday!!
Sue xx
