I understand how you feel Sue-UU, I try and pop by several times a week and I love reading all the posts but it does seem to have got quieter this year. I know for certain I would never save as much as I do without SPC though. You must decide what's best for you though................
Well this year, the family had a discussion and decided to ditch buying pressies for each other and we're going to do a Secret Santa. Every year it gets harder to know what to buy and we often end up with lots of bits and pieces that are very much appreciated but just add to your clutter! So we've set a budget and we only have to buy 1 present for 1 person. I know there are some members of the family that will be over the moon not worrying about how they can afford it. I don't know why we didn't do this sooner! So, my saved money can now go on paying for the expense of Christmas dinner, drinks etc and hopefully, I will have enough to buy a good game for us all to play too.
Emptied out my purse today and I have £7.52 to pot. Very happy and looking forward to opening day.SPC 16 - #09 Totals: 2014 - £264.51 2015 - £207.50 2016 - £396.79 2017 - £369.49 2018 - £484.24 2019 - £309.90 2020 -£282.06 2021- £1839.89 2022 -£1627.830 -
16 DAYS
I really don't know where this year has gone, I know I don't post very often but I do pop in most days and next year I will try to post something at least once a week.
Please don't give up SueUU it's you that keeps us all going year after year though I'm sure running this is no easy task and you've had your fair share of "bumps in the road" this year too. :kisses3:MFiT-T7 #17 (Jan 2025) £193k (Apr) £177k (July) £

I've had a good year!

It's wonderful to hear you've had a great year, Froglet, well done!!Focus on that alone as there's so much to be said for it, and there's still some time to get more cash in your pot. It's good to hear from you anyway!
Hi Sue
My reference to a good year was in regard to my savings. I literally can't put much more into my pot.
But I have had a good year too. I was enjoying my holiday in September so much I changed my flight and returned after an additional 10 days. That left my budgeted holiday spending this year with just £51.51!
Please carry on with the sealed pot challenge Sue, it's like a family here. Yes, opening day is when we all come together, like family members who we only see at Christmas, but others who like to meet up more frequently.
This year I know I've been posting less than usual but I'm always checking in and reading every post.

Evening
Sue - i completely understand what you say about the thread being quieter this year. I certainly have not been on as often as usual, but i do read posts.
I also would never save as much as I usually do if it wasn't for this challenge, I like to think I could do it without you all, but thats probably not the case. However, you have had a really hard year, and i understand that it must have been difficult for you to support us all as well as you have done.
Whatever you decide is best for you is best.
Thank you for your support whatever you decide.

Potted £5 this week. :j: Been tough to save much this year as I started a new part time job but on less pay. The new job is a lot less stressful, so that's good. Not long to go until opening day. Btw. I was in the Halifax last week and i notice they will only accept 10 bags of coins now.
Have a great weekend everyone and keep on potting!:staradmin Star from Sue-UU

Hello again great SPC Savers!!
I hope everyone is keeping very well, safe too, if not then, please do so! It's alright folks, I wasn't about to walk out on you, but as it had been such a quiet year I simply needed to know you were all still willing to save and save here on SPC!
However, from all your remarks it looks as though everyone's set to continue, in which case that really is fine with me!I'm fine to continue on especially as DD is (at present) doing well with her MS. My head has never been the same since the fall, but it could be a lot, lot worse. So, onward we go then SPCers!!! :j
For those of you who aren't well in any way, I do hope you get well very soon! Here's love and {{{{hugs}}}} from us all especially for YOU!! :grinheartOh Sue-UU, please don't give up on us!!! I for one probably wouldn't save the amounts I have done over the years without this challengand your encouragemente..I don't post often but read the posts every single day. I lurk in the background mainly because I'm not sure anyone would be interested in what I pot every week
Thanks so much, Lucy, as I've said above I just wanted to know everyone's happy to keep SPC up. I can understand how folk lurk in the background, but just a quick line once a week would help me know folk are still with us. I've been nattering to you for years now, and whatever you save per week IS interesting...to me if no one else! Please keep on with it Sue-UU, we really appreciate all you do keeping us all in line. I have had problems for a few years with DH health issues and lately my DD has has problems too, but knowing I have something to look forward to in a few weeks  is keeping me sane!!!
KOKO
You're right in that you all need keeping in place KOKO!!! :rotfl:Please see my message above about staying with you all. So sorry to hear about your dear hubby, your DD too now, but I certainly send my most sincere wishes for them both, you too, to keep as well as is possible! Take great care of yourself as well as caring for them both. :kisses3:
I quite understand your dilemma, Hicksy, I just hate to hear of anyone getting stung by Co!nstar!! Save whenever you're able, and if you do save any more before the 1st Nov, just let me know and I'll add it to your Total saved.
£1.24 is still an amount to be proud of, dustydigger! If you hadn't been with us here you might have spent it so be happy! BTW, your Tesc! Christmas Savings can be added to your SPC declaration on or near the 1st, any Christmas savings can be. Good luck with your CC resolution.I understand how you feel Sue-UU, I try and pop by several times a week and I love reading all the posts but it does seem to have got quieter this year. I hope you too have seen my message at the top, Siju, I just wondered how folk felt, but now I'm fully aware. To be fair, you are one of the most regular Potters on the thread so, you can have a gold star for that!! :staradmin
I completely agree with your thoughts on Christmas, I've watched a couple of Martin's thoughts and suggestions on TV too and can certainly see the sense of it all. Like you, we also have family members whom I know would jump at the idea, so...definitely food for thought. I loved the idea of getting a game to play, all our family love playing games so that's a great one! Excellent saving BTW.
Many thanks for keeping note of the days to go, mummytummy, it's looming up now!!! See my message above. I'll be chuffed to bits with a once a week sighting of you! Thanks for the very kind words.

I quite agree, Frogletina, it's exactly like one big family herewhich is why I love it!! :j I'm stopping, I just wondered about you lot...until today!Wow, you have had a great year and I'm really chuffed for you!! Why not have extended time to your holiday, proof of thoroughly enjoying yourself!! :j Frogletina, I really loved your phrase about, you couldn't have put it better I promise you!! :kisses3: See you soon.
Bless you 32b3! :kisses3: I'm not going anywhere I promise you, I simply wanted to be clear about everyone else still wanting SPC to keep going. It's obviously a resounding YES and I'm thrilled to bits at that!! Yes, I know there will be a lot of 'members' that won't return, but then that happens every year, but you and I both know the regular SPCers and those are the ones that matter!! :j Having said that, it'll be wonderful when new members come back with their Totals! I should have got in touch with you earlier, but not using the laptop, my phone is a real blessing. I've just popped your details in there. Thanks for the lovely words.
Great saving, Littlebigmoose, a littlebigsum so to speak! :rotfl:
Oooh lovely findings, swimminginaseaofdebt!!
Well done with the £5er, Dragon Lily!! It sounds as though you made the right decision about changing jobs, happiness is far more important any day!Have a wonderful WEEKEND, folks!! Enjoy the lovely sun while it's here.
