Opening day can't come too soon for me. I have £2.50 to pot today but I'm finding it difficult to put any more money in my pot at the moment.

    I've had a good year!

    Hi Sue-UU, hi all :)
Well I totally missed this years Sealed Pot Challenge!! There's only 40+ days to go :(

Truth is, there hasn't been much time for internet these past months, too much work, and I'm in the middle of decorating my living room (which I hate doing and have no experience).

Hope you are pleased with your new kitchen Sue-UU now that the housing association have left you alone - my housing association did my kitchen 2-3 years back - total botch up - especially the wall tiles that needed to be cut to fit & I could actually drop coins down the gap between the wall and some of the tiles - new saving idea?

But I have been saving! There's the work saving club I join every January. I opted for £75 a week this year (the total will be split between my debts and a holiday next year). I also bought a cheap metal money tin too and have been chucking any change into it. LOL - I bought my Mum one of these too as she get visitors with small children that were pulling out the plug at the bottom of her old tin 'helping Mum count the pennies'... before helping themselves to the pennies'. Wonder how they'll react when they see the new tin with no hole :)

:) I'll try to hang around for opening day this year, 01 Nov - in my diary!

    all the best

    Hello all Sealed Potters!!! :hello:

It's great to see you all once again, though, in fairness there aren't been many of us coming on to the thread over the last few months! :(:(Hands on heart folks, please be totally honest and let me know if SPC is still worth carrying on with as I'm honestly beginning to wonder. The excitement of declaration day and the beginning of the new year is marvellous, but doesn't last long! :(

I hope you're all very well and keeping safe from this weather, do take great care folks!! For those who aren't well in any way, I really hope you get well very soon! Here's love and {{{{hugs}}}} from us all.:grinheart

Aw how lovely Sue-UU, I keep nagging my children to provide me with a grandchild, but alas, they completely ignore me!

Ah don't you worry, siju, one of these days when they're settled and ready, they'll be giving you that wonderful news!!! :j Great savings for the week incidentally!! :D

Yes, MrsShazbat mentioned THAT word Christmas, jakes-mum, as, let's face it, it's not far away now for sure!!!! :xmassmile Crikey, you've been battling on with your shopping haven't you!!! Still, I'd guess you're just one of many who have done the same.

Brilliant saving, MrsShazbat!! It sounds as though you are working at top speed like jakes-mum, very well done both of you.

Same with you also, Chutney, great work!!!

It's wonderful to hear you've had a great year, Froglet, well done!! :D Focus on that alone as there's so much to be said for it, and there's still some time to get more cash in your pot. It's good to hear from you anyway!

Hello again Rancid!!! :hello: It's fantastic to see you again, but as you may have noticed...I'd already given your old No to someone else! However, I've sorted you another forlorn one, which is No 041, please pop it on your siggy for me straight away as it's vital at this time of year!! Thanks Rancid, and BTW, the money you've saved at your works can be put towards your SPC Total!!

Oh yes, we were delighted to see the last of those workmen go, though in fairness it was the painter that was the worse; he was as much of a painter as I am electrician!!!!! Amazing how your Tiler was useless yet ours was the best of the lot, a proper professional, bless him!!! :D

Oh dear Hicksy, what a rotten shame! :( Still, you have saved and managed to get a great Total so congratulations to you!!! :T However, I thought everyone knew NOT TO TAKE CASH TO ANY COINSTAR MACHINES AS THEY ROB YOU OF A FAIR AMOUNT OF YOUR HARD SAVED CASH!!!!! Please folk, if you don't want to count your money yourselves, take it to the bank where they do it for FREE as long as you have a bank account!!

Have a brilliant WEEKEND, folks!! Do TAKE GREAT CARE IN THOSE WINDS AND RAIN!!!

    Sue xx

In my usual fortnightly purse emptying I needed a magnifying glass there was so little there....£1.24 !!!!!!!
I had made a resolution not to use my debit card at all this fortnight, getting by on the £140 cash that we put each fortnight in our Home Budget Box. We take money out as and when we need to and it was a close shave.:)
But the tiny amount is deceptive ,as from the current account I was then able to put £20 on my Tesc* xmas savings card, and £20 on my Icel@nd bonus card. The Tesc* savings scheme closed today, and I was very happy to see I have over £60 to go towards xmas drinks.
Plus I bagged up and transferred to the credit union £40 worth of coins this fortnight,so I am looking forward to totting up the total savings this year on 1st November.Very happy with my savings this year, thanks to following MSE frugality tips, and the simple method of putting my coins away in a pot etc has produced amazing results.
Xmas is not something to worry about this year.:j:j
