Wow! 47 days to go until we can count those pots - I really cannot wait! I'm itching to start Christmas shopping now I've made my list but want to exclusively use the money I've potted as that's what I'd earmarked it for.
Anything I have left over (and if I'm anywhere near my £500 target I hope to have lots left!) will be going towards me and the OH going to London to see a show over Easter.
Life's been busy (as always!) and I've been quite tight on money - end of being a student and the start of my new career. Eagerly awaiting payday!!
Found £1 on the table in the lounge and emptied £1.50 from my purse so it's better than nothing!!LBM: October 2016: £20,130 / Current: May 2019: £12,576 37.53%DFD: [STRIKE]February 2024[/STRIKE] April 2022?0 -
Hellooooooooooooooooooo Potters!!
Ooo well its been a good potting week in house de jakesmumI had £130 in blue rewards built up from my bank account so cashed thsoe in and asked for them all in £2 coins
:rotfl:
Saw on a deals site about getting a fairfx card, you put £465 on the card and they credit you with £500So did that, got my card a couple of days ago, put it in the hole in the wall, withdrew all the money for the princely atm cost of 50p (I had already made sure I had credited with £465.50 so I could withdraw the whole £500) put the £465 back in my savings account and potted the £35 in my tin
And finally, my dear old mum took my bratlings to a car boot this morning, she made £96, I made £44.30 and the kids made £4.50 and £3.70 (which I changed up for £6 and a fiver so I could have their change :rotfl) and that all went in the pot too
Mum has said she will do a different car boot in 3 weeks and take back what didn't sell and whatever else we might find in the mean time and see if she can make a bit more for us, if she does, that will be potted too
So loads of pennies in my tins and my poor £2 coin tin feels a much healthier weight :j :j still room for more thoughSPC No 002 SPC(3) £285/£250 (4) £519.84/£500 (5) £768.32/£500 (6) £911.30/£600 (7) £913.23/£600 (8) £1184.82/£750 (9) £2864.04/£750 (10) £3846.25/£1000 (11) £1779.72/£1000 (12) £1596.55/£1000 (13) £1534.70/£1000 (14) £775.60/£1000 (15) £700.20/£1000 (16) £2081.34/£1000 (17) £1691.15/£1000 (18) £225/£10000 -

Hey all,
Back to work on 25th. Haven't touched my pot.... sadly my credit card can't say the same. But I got a pay rise so I am sure I will be back on an even keel soon enough.
May even be able to start potting...

I'm getting excited too about opening up my pot. I hope to have about £30 in there, I know that is nothing compared to everyone else, but I have never saved a penny in my life before. That is 60 odd (very odd some of em!) years of squandering money and I had nothing to show for it.
This really is a new beginning for me and I am looking forward to opening day.Quot Libros, Quam Breve Tempus

Good morning potters! Hope you are all well! I love reading everyone’s posts, it really gives me inspiration. I’ve never managed to save a penny in my life but have been so strict with my pots and not tempted to open once! I’m hoping I’ll have £200-£300 by opening day, I’ve not kept count so will be a complete surprise for me but I’m very excited! I’m not likely to pot as much now as we have so many birthdays etc coming up but going to keep on trying! Not long now :-)0

Hello again all Potters!!! :hello: It's wonderful to see you all again and with all that re-doing of the kitchen DONE!!!!! :j
I hope you're all very well and have been enjoying the very warm weather. For those who aren't well in any way, I really hope you get well very soon! Here's love and {{{{hugs}}}} from us all.:grinheart:grinheart
I see you've done amazingly well with your potting, Chutney, brilliant work!!!! :j
Well September has begun well, helsbell, so fingers crossed it'll stay that way!!Sue you should have moved in to a first class hotel and gone for a spa
let the family clean up
I know what you mean, Lost, but it's so different with our Housing Association (formerly known as Council Houses!) Thank Heavens we weren't able to go away anyhow as they were such a dirty lot of b
s!!!!! Anyway, thank goodness it's all behind us now, but the time it took was appalling! The painter came back to repaint it, but he'd just as well not have bothered!! The white lines between the walls and ceiling are shocking, so Hubby's in the middle of touching all that up!! The supervisor said he'd get someone else to do it, Hubby said "Don't you dare!! No one else is coming in now!!"
Apart from that, Lost, excellent potting as always!!
...and it's so lovely to be back with you, Saver-upper!!:j Though just look at ALL THOSE £2s you've stashed!!!! How could you!!Look out til jakes-mum finds out, she thinks they're all hers, but her's wrong as they're MINE!!! :rotfl::rotfl:
Sadly potting has come to an end for now. Maternity pay has finished. Got nursery fees to pay. My car has broken and now my laptop has died today costing me £80 in hard drive rescue and back up fees. I am resisting the urge to empty my pot.... back to work in 3 weeks. Hoping to survive till then.
In other news baby turned 8 months last week and is now crawling..... gulp. Ha ha
I'm so chuffed at your little darling crawling, Hicksy, they soon get around then!! Our DGGS has been crawling for 6 weeks and there's no stopping the little monkey!! He'll be 12 months old on Sunday 27th!! :A KEEP WELL AWAY FROM YOUR POT!!!! You'll be in great need of it for Christmas. Do the very best you can. So sorry to hear about the car and laptop, it all comes at once eh!!Take good care of yourself, enjoy your little treasure as that time will fly by! Don't forget...any spare pence adds up! Love and hugs, Hicksy. xx
Fantastic potting, dustydigger, not long to go now!twigletsmum wrote:£9 potted this morning. I don’t post often but still potting away, I actually can’t wait until opening day. I’ve never managed to save but just had to order more tins as cannot squeeze any more in, I don’t expect to have loads come 1st November but a lot more than usual! This group has really given me the motivation to save what I can and I’ve not been tempted at all to open it - even when we went on holiday, it stayed put. I’ve not been keeping count of what I put in so will be a complete surprise!
That was such a joy to read, twigletsmum, it's really made my day! I hope your words, your actions too, will have inspired others to save all that's possible!I hope you get a Total that will really make you so happy!! :j PS. I've just read your latest post and you have so very much to be thrilled at!!! :T
I really hope you'll be feeling so much better by now, jakes-mum, it sounds as though you had a really rough time of it. Well done with the sales from your parent's garage, if you get half of that lot then you'll definitely be doing well...especially if it's all in £2 coins!!!! :rotfl::rotfl: That deal on signing up with a Fairfax acc was brilliant!!!!! Very well done! Fantastic work with the car boot sales too!!! I'm sure you must be magnetic where money's concerned! :rotfl::rotfl:
Helllooo there, little_sweetie, long time no see!! :hello: So very sorry to read about G's health problems and dearly hope he's feeling so much very much better now. Ah, of course your Birthday will be another great part of the big day and I hope it's a lovely day for you. I'll see you soon, love to you both.
It's wonderful to see you too, 32b3!! :hello: I did wonder if holiday/s would be the reason for you missing and hope you had a lovely time. However, congratulations to you on TWO promotions while both of us have been AWOL!!!!! :T I understand what you mean about your iPad as I'm the same with my phone and don't use the laptop half so much now, apart from SPC. It's great to have you back!I've a feeling Lynne moved away.
Oh dear apricity, it sounds as though you've been living life on a carousel!! Just in case you add to your Total, could you please come back on or around the 1st Novermber to disclose you're definite Total? Thanks a lot.mummytummy wrote: »Oooh! Hi mummytummy! So, after another couple of days gone, I take it there are 45 days left!!!! Good Heavens, that's really going to go fast, so you'd best get filling those pots up Potters!!!
Lovely to see you, Dragon Lily, and so long as you've been saving that's all that matters!!
By heck DancingUnicorn, it sounds as though you've really been saving hard, I'm really thrilled for you!! Keep going and let's hope you're able to have an access over so that you and your OH can really treat yourself at Easter!!Congratulations on having finished Uni and all the very best in your chosen career!!! :T
Don't worry Bubbs, you still have your No, it's the same one as is on your siggy. You came on quite a bit at the start of the year whereas some folk we only see once a year!

WOW Babs!!! That's a LOT of years without savings BUT considering some people never save in their lives you really are doing well! You've made a beginning and I sincerely hope you stick to saving with us each year!!I know you say £30 is nothing to what many of us save, and it's true, but everyone's Total is not the actual amount that matters it's what it means to every individual! So, all in all your £30 (plus whatever you get in between now and Nov 1st) is excellent and much to be so very proud of!! :T So, you be proud of every penny you count out of your pot when it's time and be sure to be thrilled at it all!!!!! :j
FANTASTIC SAVINGS POTTERS!!! :j
Keep up the amazing work!!
The total potting for Hubby & I during the last two weeks is £15!!! Also, I found a 50p and a 5p outside of B&Ms, talk about chuffed!!!! :j So that's gone in the roadkill pot.Have a superTuesday and lovely folks!! My heart really goes out to all those poor souls in the US and in the Philippines! So, along that line do keep safe with the awful winfs that are forecast!!!
