Hey my lovelies...happy almost counting up day! :D

Sue, I shook my tin and there was barely a sound! I blame this on 1. Finishing my degree and starting teaching (I have no time to think let alone get money out and spend it). 2. We are on an air miles mission for our next holiday so everything goes on the card! and 3. I have a teenage daughter who always seems to be trying to tap me up for cash! :rotfl:

With that in mind, could you pop me off your list as I won't be counting up this year and I don't want to hold up the final total. ;) I promise I will still pop the odd bit of shrapnel in my tin and maybe next year there will be enough to count?! :o

Much love to you all. :smileyhea I hope whatever you've managed to save helps you out! :xmastree:

Don't worry mossy, I will leave you on the list but mark my list with a line through it so I know where I stand, you too. Good luck with the air miles as well as your teaching. :D

Please make sure your numbers are on your siggies folks!!

Hello all, I am still here too. Although there has been nooo potting, i will still be giving my total on counting day! I love counting money *scrooge*

Hi 166million! Well, at least you'll have some savings by the sound of it, so I look forward to seeing you on or around the 1st.

:j Just THREE DAYS left to save!!!!! :j

You can still include your whites savings with SPC too, dustydigger, the money you get from your surveys also....we all do! To my mind it's no difference than saving in serarate Christmas Savings Clubs.

Have a good Monday, folks, but do keep warm!!

    Sue xx

  • Eep!! Will do a special purse clear-out this week before counting day. Need to get some money bags, still haven't decided what I'm doing with it in terms of getting it into the bank.

Hubby and I had a trip to Birmingham on Saturday - it was our 10th wedding anniversary last week. We made it to double figures despite hubby's slightly dramatic attempt to get out of it 3 years ago :rotfl: We don't really do much but hubby has never been on a modern over-ground train so we took a trip to Brum. We were intending to go to our favourite Chinese buffet there but when I checked, after booking the non-refundable train tickets, it had closed down. Gutted. We also then discovered that Sheffield Wednesday were playing Birmingham City :T Although the train ended up packed, it did at least mean there were lots of people getting off in Birmingham and on the plus side, our train home was 4.30 which meant we got out before the football ended. As it was we were only there for 4 hours, and it rained, but it was a nice change of scenery, we still had lunch in Chinatown and some lovely chocolate orange cake at Druckers. And hubby enjoyed his train ride.

DH swapped me up over £6 on shrapnel (including a £2 coin :D:D:D ) for a £5 note :j :j tins duly fed! Went to Morries today and there were 2 old ladies feeding the c0instar machine! DH wouldn't let me go over and berate them about 10% fees and had to listen to me muttering all the way home '10% that machine charges! 10%!!!!! what were they thinking? thats £100 if you've got a grand to change up! i'd have blumin counted it for them for free! AND changed it up for them!) :o As we left they were at the customer services desk so no idea if thats where you get your notes from or if they had realised the extortionate price and gone to complain

Anyway only 2 1/2 more potting days to goooooo! DH and I are now playing 'guess how much is in the tin', we know it wont be anywhere near previous years but we are still very excited for count up day and have said as soon as we've counted up, cashed up at the bank, we are going to the supermarket and dedicating £100 to a big bulk buy shop of essencials (like bog roll, cos we're very rock and roll like that :rotfl: ) to help with the over christmas costs.

It's so wonderful to read your post, Emily, and to know that SPC is where it all began for you! What a change you've made for, not only you, but for the whole family, what a success it's been! :j I can never imagine you living without a pot in your life...very sensible indeed!!!! :T

Please make sure your numbers are on your siggies folks!!

Hi Babs, don't ever worry about the possibility of questions being asked before, we're not always here at the same time so repetition is bound to happen.
Yes, of course you can add survey earnings to your SPC money, anything similar to them too. It won't be long now until it's THAT time either!!! :j

I'm so thrilled for you and your DH that, despite everything, you had a wonderful celebration on your 10th Anniversary, MrsShazbat!!!!! :T
A very Happy Anniversary to you both!!

How can people presumably read the signs on those blasted C0!nstar machines and STILL either think it's worth losing THEIR money or .....just not caring!!! Madness! I would imaging they are NOT SPCers. *Shakes head in frustration*
My hubby would have reacted in the same way as yours so it's not yours alone.

Ok then, jakes-mum, so your guessing what your Total SPC money is, but does the winner gain something? Knowing you, if you win, you pot the lot, but if your hubby wins....he gets s!d all!! :rotfl::rotfl:

So, another £5er in our pot, I'm well happy!!!! :D

Enjoy your Tuesday, SPCers, but please do keep warm!!

Last year when my knee replacement kept me housebound I asked my son to take £30 worth of pennies to the bank, but he was in a hurry and used the coinstar machine without reading the instructions, just stuffed the receipt in his pocket. Not only did I lose the 10% but the whole amount because apparently you must cash it in on the same day! It took me 3 years to collect those pennies all for nothing. Thank heavens now I use the credit union every time I get £2 worth of pennies. Wouldnt fancy humping a big load of coins to my bank,7 miles and 2 bus rides away in the city!:) Used to be a branch straight opposite my local supermarket, but of course it closed down:(

we always play guess the total with the kids, they get to see how many pots, know which pot has what coins and pick them up, then they have to write their name and guess on a piece of paper that I keep, whoever is closest gets £10 :rotfl: its the kids favourite time of year I think, a chance at free money :rotfl: I might change it up this year and say anyone who is within £50 of the total gets a £10er as I usually give them both some money out of the tins along with the £10er to whoever guesses closest. They dont let me play though cos it seems its unfair as I knw roughly what each tin will hold :Rotfl:
