What's wrong with asking for evidence to support claims?
I ll ask "Alexa " lol whats wrong with asking for "evidence "..If you want to have a go at spies invading your home, you re in the wong area.
They are already here in my home harvesting info, or possibly listening in , in order to flog me stuff I won t be buying .
I think the meter under the stairs is a poor relation compared to the things I use nowadays

Houbara, you seem to be on a mission to convince people there is no risk to their privacy and to stifle any criticism of smart meters. You obviously have a vested interest in them. "ridiculous comments" are comments that are plainly wrong, backed up by no arguments of any substance and your various blatant attempts at deflection.

So you're admitting the ability of smart meters to spy on people's habits but claiming that's ok because other devices are also spying on people? Only two days ago you had no idea about "power signatures" and said it wasn't possible. It's getting very difficult to take anything you say seriously.

I m quite happy for a smart meter to "spy on " my personal habits . They re of no use to anyone other than Symbio Energy and Zog Energy, my current suppliers .. to bill me correctly..
Just explain to me what would be the outcome if a smart meter could identify all my appliances I use in any 24 hrs, and why would it be of any financial interest to outside parties even it was possible for a smart meter to know how many cups of tea I have in a day.
I read about the French getting uppity again claiming that smart meters ,Linkys they re known as , would be able to establish if someone is at home , so someone could "cold call " and try and sell you something ! France by the way has mandatory smart meters , no choices.
..You could nt make it up .
The only reason I d like smart meters into everyones properties is to halt or slow down the vast numbers of people in my town of Doncaster thieving energy on an industrial scale in many parts of central Doncasters terraced streets with little to stop them from suppliers or generators. Once someone starts getting free gas and electric they tend to use a lot more than ever needed..Not good for global warming neither

I wasn't aware that Symbio Energy were able to support smart meters.
All suppliers will serve you, but they will treat any smart meter device as dumb.

    Same goes for Zog Energy.

So when did this change???

It has nt changed . At some point they have to "offer " me one which I will accept .Last year I was with Bulb who also did nt offer me one in my year with them
I have had both smart gas and electric meters at my last property for years fitted by British Gas

2024, I understand. Unless in the next 4 years this dates gets extended again, or even abolished completely, depending on whether or not Boris is found dead in a ditch come next month.

Bulb are currently rolling out smart metering, but they have a waiting list. Did you put your name down?

If, as you say, they were installed years ago, they are unlikely to continue to function as smart meters once you changed supplier.
I can't believe you stayed with BG for so many years

    Can t you , why not ?
I used to switch between BG and Sainsburys Energy for many years exit fee free.
Sainsburys Energy at that time were a "white label " supplier who BG used to offer a no frills low tariff.
BG s smart meter functions stayed working to a lower function under Sainsburys but the IHD did nt work but it sent the usual half hour/daily gas reads ..no probs because I d binned ithe IHD after a few weeks anyway. OFGEM ended the white label ploy in approx 2014.
My contact with Bulb was minimal as it is with every supplier nowadays,, DD s go out every month,,job done. They read my meters a couple of times in the year which is an oddity nowadays that any supplier wastes money on meter readers.. Good supplier though !

Standard energy prices are now capped by the regulator, but don't be fooled. The cheapest deals are still for switchers...
    Many can save £100s/year.
    https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/utilities/you-switch-gas-electricity/

    As at 08 October 2019:
Cheapest big six fix (12 months) - Eon - £941
    Cheapest fix (12 months) - Avro - £891

So that's a £50 saving for switching from the very best big 6 tariff
You can possibly save even more if you are prepared to take your chances with a variable tariff.

A meter reader who's in favour of smart meters that do away with meter readers??

A meter reader who doesn't know what a kilowatt hour is??

A meter reader who doesn't know that an IHD is not the property of the householder and must not be disposed of (and shouldn't be thrown in a domestic bin anyway, it needs to be safely recycled)??
