Do SM2 meters work with all suppliers?0
-
I am stuck with bulb. No-one else will want to take on their faulty smart meters.
So I can't switch to a cheaper supplier now.I have to submit monthly readings but the displays are more difficult to read than the old meters.0 -
I'm with Bulb and my Smart meter is now working. It took several weeks and lots of emails & phone calls to get it sorted but I found their Customer Service people to be very helpful.
The meter now sends readings to Bulb automatically. The display unit is less helpful but, when it works, it does enable me to read the meter without having to get down on the floor to peer into the meter cupboard!

Can anybody help me please? In 2017 I had my smart meters installed by British Gas, a few months later I changed supplier so, of course, the meters went dumb and the energy monitor stopped working. I have just moved back to British Gas and I can’t get any sense out of them about the process or timing to get the smart meters working again. Has anybody gone through returning to the supplier who installed their meters, if so how was it handled?0

There are two types of meter, but as British Gad use the type 2 it’s a simple matter for them to deal.
i don’t tend to debate over the phone where there’s a simple solution and those who can do fail to.
I use a website called Resolver, those that reply via this portal seem to know their onions and the issue gets sorted.0 -

You can't get any sense out of them because it is not going to happen.

Hi Keith
I had the same problem when I switched back to BG last year. Unsurprisingly, you get put on a waiting list and eventually given a date for them to come and fit new meters! Takes a few months but, once it's done, everything's OK and your fuel consumption is still being monitored at source so it's not a big issue - especially as I presume you will have been paying by monthly Direct Debit anyway. Guy who did the re-fitting was helpful and - touch wood - no probs since. Good luck!0 -

No thanks. Without smart meters, I would still be on prepay.
