I am flipping exhausted! The last day of my holiday today and DD woke me up at 06:58 to clean the cat's litter tray. I then spent the rest of the day with her, only handing over the metaphorical reins to Mrs E at 16:45 ;) We managed a trip to the garden centre (for that, read the bit of the garden centre that is chock full of aquariums and fish). We also had a good play with L3go (she had seen a video on Y0uTube for a swimming pool with a clingfilm "pool liner" that was a roaring success), a long walk in the spring sunshine, stories on the couch and made a lentil and ham soup for lunch.

On the financial front, I cashed out my £6.60 for referring someone to a stock trading app, paid half of this into the SIPP and E@syjet have confirmed that they are refunding our London to Greece flights (£450 or so). The plan is to book a discounted three night trip at a "hydro" type hotel with this money.

Tonight I will largely be crashing on the couch with a cheap but drinkable Sauvignon Blanc from Mr L and having a takeaway (diet returns on Monday, as does jogging). I will stick a big reduced brisket in the oven for an overnight cook with HM beef stock, onions and hoisin sauce before doing so.

    Happy weekend all.

Sounds a great evening!  A hydro hotel is a good one too - some of my memories of Turkey are bound up in thermal spa type places, varying levels of infrastructure :)

Lots of spa and hydro-hotel options in Scotland. Personally I would be off to Isla (more golf tbh) if staying in Scotland, but the views and the relaxation would do it for me, even without a pool. Crieff Hotels seem to be well regarded.

Many moons ago I used to go to some of the Champneys places with a group of girlfriends. I know at one point they all upgraded to Ragdale Hall but I was down-grading to camping and paying down debt at that point so was dropped from the group. It can be very expensive with or without an offer.

Three night break booked at the Pe3bles Hydro at the start of August. Local connection (I used to live there) and we love the borders. £485 for a slightly swisher room with lovely views, that seems pretty competitive to me. Of course children's club sessions etc. are all currently cancelled, but hopefully things will be a bit more normal by then? I am getting a bit smarter booking holidays in general, going for fully flexible options unless they are dramatically more expensive and holding the full amount of the future cost in the budget (as opposed to letting future me worry about it).

There is also a phenomenal chocolatier in the town and I'm considering booking Mrs E a 3 hour class. I think she'd really enjoy it but I'm not sure if a) she'd think it an imposition, or b) would really enjoy it. I'll check with her before proceeding :)

E@syjet refunded our Greece flights, this covers the hotel stay with a difference of £3 to make up.

The overnight brisket (bed of sliced onions and garlic cloves, heavily seasoned and soused with HM beef gravy, Worcester sauce, liquid smoke and hoisin sauce) is delicious, looking forward to dinner already  <3

Right - time to stop mucking about. I need to hoover, clean the aquarium and get started on gardening.
