Me too on the underwhelmingness
I heard one particularly woffly bit get going, and I had to mute the tv
Your trips sound good - I'm not even going to try to go abroad this year, it seems so liable to change at a moment's notice, just not good enough. It sounds like it won't cost you to cancel the majority of the Greek trip, and you can use the London part of the flight? Hope so.

One of my brothers forwarded me a screenshot from the MSE email this morning re. claiming tax relief from WFH - he knows me so well! Mrs E and I have both submitted our claims for the new tax year.

Forgive the daft question. I did this relatively recently for 2020/21, have you went in already and requested for 2021/22 tax year?
Is the idea that you do this and then have to go and flip it back if / when you called back into the office (which I expect this tax year)?Small OPs are better than no OPs
Start date - Feb 2018 £231,000 / Apr 2042

@Tartan_Mum - yes - this is for the new tax year but I have no expectation that the government will try and claim it back if people return to offices (like means testing, would probably cost more to process than this might save). I'm also hopeful of at least 50% WFH from now on, my work is a large public sector employer and I think they're seeing the potential to shrink their property portfolio

Sorry another daft q. I don’t expect to be back full time even when we are “back”, is the tax claim pro rata for WFH/working in the office, do you know?Small OPs are better than no OPs

July 2025 £116,950 / Dec 2025

@Tartan_Mum - no - it doesn't appear to be pro rata. After signing up for Freetr@de via a referral I have received my free share (worth a massive £7). Not bad for using an app to fill some forms, paying £2 into an investment account ( didn't even invest it) and then waiting for a week
I have proceeded to refer my pals who are effort poor, but free money desirous

Thanks for that.

Cat to the vet, paw appears to be healing well. Unfortunately they need to do another x-ray to be certain, so that's £300 or so I'll need to allow for by the 10th of May. She can have her collar off next week, which will be the start of her return to normality. £901 has arrived from insurer, will cancel the policy tomorrow.Found myself very frustrated today because I tried to use the Easyjet web form to claim a refund for our Greek flights and they claim I completed it wrong. It only has about 5 fields, so I'm not sure what has gone wrong and they don't tell you (just "computer says no")
I have tried again.

Been offline for a couple of days (doing end of year admin, and only so much sitting at computer screen I can handle) - I think you have done the right thing, cancelling your trip. We have two open ferry tickets with Stena (to NL) - one for DH's motorbike and one for the car. Eventually we will get there I hope. Not sure when I see us driving to Italy again at the moment thoughSave £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £9586.01 out of £6000 after August (158.45%)
OS Grocery Challenge in 2025 I am at £2135.07/£3000 or 71.17% of my annual spend so far
