I was wanting new pans, mine were very cheap and the lack of cooking mean't they have lasted about 7 years. Anyway, with me cooking more often (as in every day) they are starting to fall apart. I want a few things from a pan and wondered if there are any available like this and where best to buy them.

I want to be able to use them in the oven and on the hob, hopefully under grill aswell. I need about 3 if not a few more.

Diswasher safe isn't an issue as I don't have one but would like them to be easy to clean because of that aswell.

Is there any that can be used in them both ? Also any ideas where to buy for the best deals ?

Good and bad reviews most welcome, I haven't a clue :o

Meyer make excellent pots & pans. There are several different ranges, some of which can be used in the oven up to 240 degrees. Theyre not cheap, but they are very good. My local John Lewis stocks the Anolon range. Search online if you want to find a good deal.

I'll have a look at those too thanks. No John Lewis nearby so would have to order online.

Just thought of something when looking, my owns a narrow one, I best make sure I don't buy anything that is too wide :o

What is probably insane of me. I gave some Le Creuset pans away I was given years ago as I didn't use them :o

Ah forgot that bit, all my utensils apart frm a couple of spatulas/wooden spoon are metal, good point I never thought of that. I do love the look of that set, the large pans especially, off to see just how bad the prices are. Like I said Emma I don't have a dishwasher so as long as they are pretty easy to clean not a problem.

Just looked, see what you mean about prices, could afford it but I think DP would go crackers :rotfl:

Incase you decide to go for the really expensive pans this is the place to buy them from http://armorica.co.uk/Pots_and_Pans/Calphalon_One/184 There are only 2 places in the UK that sell them and we tried the other place (cant remember the name) and they were completely rubbish. They are expensive but worth it as they will last a very long time.

I forgot to say before that when using the pans on the hob the metal handles don't get hot.

    Emma

Edit: They are also very easy to clean, you just cant soak them straight after using them, you have to wait for them to cool down first.

    Hi lil_me,

You've probably read these threads but in case you haven't I thought they might help:

    New saucepans wanted

    Anodised saucepans

    stainless steel saucepans - advice?

  • I think I have seen pans on QVC that you can use in the oven and they were quite a good price if I remember.

    Hope that helps
I hated going to weddings. All the grandmas would poke me saying "You're next". They stopped when I started doing it to them at funerals :p

Lil Me, I am DELIGHTED to recommend a Wol pan.

We saw these at last year's Good Food show. Yes, the blurb was amazing, yah yah yah, versatile, easy to clean, heard it all before.

However, we did want a deep frying pan, so we bought one. The guy on the stand recommended a fairly large one "if you only buy one, buy this - you'll use it for everything".

My god, he was right. We use this pan ALL the time. I use it for frying, for casseroling on the hob or in the oven, for everything. It is bluddy fantastic. I've since bought the smallest pan too.
The handle comes off, it goes in the oven, the lids are see through and have an on/off vent.

And it is SO easy to clean. I just rinse it under the tap.

You don't need to add oil, it doesn't scratch.... I've become evangelical about them.

Here's a link to a website which sells them relatively cheaply http://www.directcookware.com/html/pans/woll_shallow_group-3.asp

However, they do good deals at various shows. Here's a list of where they are exhibiting: http://www.bamixuk.com/

I'm, going toi buy the medium sized deep saute pan next, but will wait until I see them at a show to get the best price.

Good luck with whatever you decide

Thanks for all the info, I have gone from not knowing what to buy to a massive list of 'I want ALL of these' :o Unfortunately I do ALL of the cooking so talking my partner round to expensive ones will be hard, but I am sure it'll be worth it :)

Remember that OS is buying good quality and buying once.

And don't worry abou thaving a matching set. Be eclectic and buy a selection of pans that do the job.

I can hide them in the cupboard aswell so matching isn't an issue really. I think I need to find a decent shop up here aswell where I can handle them, I've been looking online but my biggest issue will be weight and how easy they are to carry etc. I have terrible arms and wrists for the shakes. This was actually a point DP made of can I lift them as I know the Le Creuset ones were heavy hence I didn't use them.

With the buying once, that is why I asked here, I don't want to buy cheap and end up costing me more having to replace them all the time.
