Hi. I hav just replaced my ageing non stick pans that was just like yours, the non stick wasnt on the pans anymore but was picking it out of my food. I have never had stainless steel pans before so was a bit apprehensive about them. I got mine in a sale at bhs for £20 (3 Pans with glass lids) and they are a really sturdy set but was reduced so much because the box was all broken. (This didnt bother me at all)
Well i just wanted to say i love the flipping things, my food hasnt stuck to them, they wash up lovely and i dont need to have my electric ceramic hobs temperature up so high when i am cooking as they conduct the heat making cooking with them more effective and cost effective.
My parents have got a set that they have had for the past year (the morphy richards apple set that they got from argos and i absolutly love them. I wanted to get them myself but they was out of stock when i went to get them. They are in the new argos right now and are on offer for £23.99
The catolouge number is 8607302 . I Dont know how to do a link i am afraid but they are on the website so why not have a look. I will never go back to anything other than stainless steel from now on.
Ps... Oh and forgot to say they come with a 10 year guarentee.2007 Competition challenge.( Win back my ntl internet costs for a year) Target £220 Have won so far = £9.99 Loreal revitalift pot of cream. and = £14.95 Royal mail smilers stamps!
Weight loss challenge started 3/1/07= Target 5 stone/ loss so far 3 stone and 4lbs (yay!)0 -
I gave away too heavy cast iron pans and gott a set of 3 stainless steel pans from M&S for £9.50 and they wearing really well.
set of 3 M&S pans
I'd also recommend getting a few good quality small frying pans if you need to heat up lots of small quantities, and don't want to washing pans all the time.
the tefal privilege range is very good, the bits of non stick doesn't flake off.
hope this helps0 -
I can also reccomend the marks and spencers starter kit saucepan set, in stainless steel a bargain for 9.500

Can't recommend Circulon pans enough, we were bought some when we got married and they are fantastic, they NEVER stick.0

If you have a TKMaxx store nearby, check out the kitchen selection - I often see fab. stainless steel pans and sets for 50% - 70% off what they normally sell for. Meyer, Judge, Stellar, Wesco, and more - loads of top brands. Last time I was in they had really cheap sets of AWT pans and another chef who I can't remember but the pans were very nice quality.
We have the Stellar saucepans with the draining lids, they are fantastic. Wash up like new and are a joy to cook with. I got the matching Stellar lidded roaster and rack at TKMaxx for £19 - it was £60 in our local cookshop.:happylove0 -
I got my stainless steel pans from Argos - set of 3 with glass lids for a tenner, and they're great! :j
My only critcism is that the handles are also metal, and so get a bit hot. If I had more money at the time I would have splashed out the extra for the ones with rubber handles, but for now the ones I have are fine.0 -
I've just replaced our saucepans with a set from M&S as well...only we went for the 5 piece set for £19.50 here . I love them as they're the cheapest ones I've found that are suitable for our ceramic hob
I've not had any problems with them at all...even when I "caramelised" mashed carrot & turnip last week
Creeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!0 -

Thanks all, that's really helpful - wouldn't have thought of looking at M&S for pans.
My OH was going to try TK Maxx anyway so I shall send him off there first - trouble is nearly all others in sets and we don't really need any more big pans as have enough quality (wedding present - Circulon) big pans and no room to store any more. And it would seem wrong to throw away/give away a perfectly good new pan even if cheaper than buying an individual small pan - just seems wrong on environmental if not moneysaving grounds....0 -
tkmaxx has loads of individual ones - far more than in sets, so you should have some luck!!:happylove0
