I'm very happy with my Tefal thermospot frying pan, had it years and still like new. You can buy them for under £20 so not greatly expensive. I use it often, including at high temperatures to fry popadoms and the non-stick works well, omelets and pancakes are easy to make. It does say you can use metal utensils, but I stick to wooden ones as they're just as effective and cannot damage the finish.

I have had a few of these and despite very careful use and cleaning I find they never last more than a year or two (they used to be loads better too). I would not recommend then at all.

Quite a difference in experience. Mine is certainly good as new after regular use for about five years now, so they can last. Maybe the newer ones are not so good, or perhaps something else is going on? As I mentioned, I always use wooden utensils as they don't scratch the finish. I don't have a dishwasher, it's washed in the sink with detergent and a green nylon pad, so I can't comment on how they stand up to dishwashers if anyone is using one.

Depending on the years some have been hand washed only (with blue cloth only nothing has solid as a green nylon pad) and others dishwasher washed.

I have found neither really makes any difference, the non-stick surface still delaminates and flecks get in the food. As I said earlier they are always used with care, wooden or silicon utensils only. I have bought them for years since they firat came out. The quality is definitely IMO declining and not as durable. I wish they were as I loved them and need to find something that is as good as they once were.

Hi I bought two Raymond Blanc by Analon frying pans recently, they are non stick and very very good quality, I think one came from Amazon and the other from Debenhams on line as these were the cheapest places to get them. I have an induction hob so pans for this cost more but the quality does showe. Made perfect pancakes in one last night.

I have one of these which I bought to cook OHs scrambled eggs in - can't recommend it highly enough, it's really solid, absolutely nothing sticks to it and I'm really pleased with it. I bought mine from John Lewis so if anything goes wrong I'm covered :)

I've bought expensive pans like Stellar then been really disappointed with them. Still use the saucepans but the frying pan was rubbish, everything stuck! My latest buys have been of german manufacture from Lidls and I find them really good, nothing sticks and you don't need to add oil when dry frying (!) So far I've bought a stockpot, omelette pan and wok. I don't think that any of them have been more than £14.

For anyone that wants Anolon, Debenhams have an offer: http://www.debenhams.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/prod_10001_10001_331001945160_-1?CMP=EMC-29032012-NWL-ReductionsUK

Look on the codes board first though for a further online discount - there should be at least 10% floating around somewhere.

  • I bought a set of 5 Circulon Infinite pans on Amazon for about £100 and have been great so far (only had them 4 months) as hardly need to use any oil. Am hoping they will last a good long time (with the no metal utensils rule of course) as even our old Tefal non-stick ones lasted 5 years.
