  • DennisTenus,Yet again I chased up the 3xDDs that have not been set up last monday.Thay are 'investigating' the matter.I will chase it again this coming monday.Twice I have sent in statements that they promise to return straight away, these have not been sent back to me.
What I cannot understand is that they set up three DDs to pay into an ISA without any problems but when it comes to the eSaver they just dont seem to want to do it.

I opened Post Office Savings account just now. When it came to depositing first deposit, I chose Direct debit. (as opposed to debit card/cheque)

Everything ok. It said can take up to 9 business days for initial deposit to show on post office account. When I login to PO account it says DD status is 'pending' and frequency 'one-off'.

Take it I can change this frequency to 'weekly' once the status becomes 'active' (or such like).

Edit: Noticed there is a 'Edit Direct Debit' option, which is currently greyed out (maybe because the DD is pending)

    Hi,

Once the original one off DD is set up and showing on your account you can then log in and make a regular DD, and chose the frequency. You leave the one of start off DD alone and when you set up the regular one, you will see the one off DD listed as well as the new one.

Just wait till its shows then try again, I speak from experience as I have just done this procedure on my new PO internet account.

  • The address of your bank admin HQ, no need for the specific branch location - as long as you give the correct sort code & account number, and send it to the correct address at Santander - ISA Customer Services, PO Box 1112, 9 Nelson Street, Bradford BD1 9NR.

Don't be mislead by the ISA prefix, you can omit it if you wish, that's where all these mandates are dealt with.

Ok so I do need to put in the address of my bank admin HQ? I was just going to put Lloyds Bank and leave address blank but I guess this will leave them with an excuse not to set it up!

Hmmm I was wondering/concerned this may happen. Any further progress?
  • Post office has asked me to verify my ID and address. On my application they are also asking to send a personal cheque for a deposit. Does anyone know if I can ignore it and just make a note that I want my first deposit to be deposited via Direct Debit?

Same thing that happened to marvel111 happened to my sister, but I wasn't asked to provide any ID and address info last month. Makes creating the account a bit more hassle, but I guess could send a cheque for a small amount and then top up with direct debit.

If it's the bank beginning with an S, the direct debits can only be set up by post. Details earlier in this thread I think.

Think there was a query earlier in the thread as to how many dds can be set up on the Easysaver account at this bank. Sent off 2nd dd form to them for another account and that direct debit has just successfully processed in addition to the one I already had set up. So it seems you can set up at least two dds on this account, perhaps more.

Just a question: how long is it supposed to take for the original DD to set up?

It'll take ten days for the first payment of a Post Office DD to be taken (and a further day for it to appear in your Post Office account), but the DD should be set-up and visible on the donor bank account for you to check in about 3-6 working days. Some donor accounts will even display the date of the upcoming payment.
