  • I managed to open one post office saver ages ago but when I try and open one of the new ones it always says technical difficulties having tried a few times with different browsers. Does anyone know how to get round this or is it just a case of keep trying?
  • Just wondered if people are still bothering with these?

As i just said in another thread it seems i've been living under a rock.

I have some TSB accounts paying 5%, then there's the Halifax accounts which have a very small amount in.

The rest is split between Lloyds & BOS accounts and it gets a bit tiresome making sure credit cards are qualifying me for the rates. I've just seen this Marcus account which might solve the problem.

It might for you, if the DDs are a problem for you. Marcus may have its use but it doesn't do anything much for those who want access to some of the 5% RS accounts, for instance.

You should ring up the Post Office. With me it was a technical difficulty with my account, where they needed to verify the account linked to an existing account. Once that was sorted, it stoped saying technical difficulties when I tried to apply.

Are you allowed to operate several PO issue accounts? I am aware you can't open two of the same issue.

Haha thanks I understand. I'll stick to opening new issues. :)

I'll pay £5 a month and leave the cash there to avoid "abusing it". :j
  • There is a major High Street bank that will accept DD payments to three different savings accounts.

Two of them can be held singly and jointly.

They are very reticent to admit to this, preferring customers to use standing orders.

Can the DDs be setup online?
  • If it's the bank beginning with an S, the direct debits can only be set up by post. Details earlier in this thread I think.
