Put in an application and I got an email saying my new issue 34 account is getting its final opening checks so definitely a few issues there! Nothing new from PO Bank though. Give them a bit and they usually come good again so I might try again in a few days if I don't hear anything else0 -

We are very sorry - we are currently experiencing the same technical difficulties we've been having for many years. Please try again in a few hours if, however, you still need additional Direct Debits.
Fixed that for you:p0 -
Anyone know about a Santander DD form - when you put in the reference number/account number, if and how the account sort code goes in the box?0

Apologies if this is already known, but the Hanley Economic Building Society's "Branch Regular Saver" account can be funded by monthly direct debit, and you can choose from a range of dates for the DD to be taken each month.
Although it's called a "Branch Regular Saver" it is available to anyone resident in the UK, and can be opened by post.
Minimum monthly deposit is £20, but you can make up to 5 withdrawals every year without penalty, so no need to build up a big balance in the account.

Thanks Fingerbobs
I'm not interested as, I'm reigning in my monthly shuffle activities. However, this is another useful one to add to the list for those who are still playing:)0 -

The interest rate is only 1.25% which is very poor for a regular saver - plenty of instant access accounts pay nearly 1.5%.
So its only real merit is the direct debit facility.
The Ecology BS pays 1.75% - so would be the first choice.

Agreed.
However, IIRC Ecology only allow 1 regular saver, so generate only 1 monthly DD.
Fingerbobs' suggestion supplies another source of DD.
PS I do have the Ecology RS - though not for the interest rate.0 -

2 weeks later and I get a series of emails saying my initial issue 35 application (which ultimately went through as an issue 34), my second and third issue 35 applications (one monthly and one annual, which I put in applications for a few days apart just to see what would happen) and an issue 30 application (which I must've submitted ages ago and forgotten about when it never got approved) all went through... well done PO Bank!0 -
I notice from another thread that ICICI pulls from your linked account via a DD:

The poster there was unhappy with this, but I imagine for people on this thread it might be more up your street.0
