Yes. I am aware of Post office saving account but I was asking about the AA Easy Saving in which djd1965 is refering to in post #657 and # 668.

I suspect the confusion around AA accounts is that a DD is possible, and perhaps required, with the legacy accounts managed by BM, but not possible with the newer accounts managed by the Bank of Ireland. It will need someone that has or had recently an AA account managed by the BoI to confirm this.
Did you really mean to put loose?
Lose: no longer possess, not to retain, unable to find
Loose: not firmly or tightly fixed in place

Yes it's exactly that.... legacy & accounts use the Birmingham Midshires (Lloyd's Banking Group System) and hence allow DDs. But any new accounts are managed by the Bank of Ireland and don't allow DDs.

Thought setting up 2 DDs from Halifax would be a simple way of getting the 2 DDs and only necessitate sending one bank statement with the forms. I imagine it might confuse things trying to set up 2 DDs from the one account though.

Per their terms, it has to be 2 different DDs for Halifax/BoS accounts.

I was asking about this account over the phone. My question is could I set up a DD payment to this account the answer is: YES[/B] and then she added you would need to contact your bank to arrange the payment. Could you believe that ??????

Keep talking to them that DD need to be set up from AA account is complete waste of time.

This is another evidence that there are still some people working in Banking Industry did not even know the difference between DD and SO. I have encountered a few, apart from AA the recent one to name is SAGA bank.

I have not seen any wording clearly mention that deposit by DD is not allowed.

    theaa.com/savings-account

They have stated all deposits must come from your linked bank account.

My understanding is that any deposit from link AC could be done by DD or SOs

Those who manage to open an AA easy saver, is there any AA Saving form (online or paper form) to set up a DD to be be pulled from a current account to a newly open AA easy saver account ?

    Thanks

I feel that PayPal are certainly tightening up on the "add money to your account" option. It quite often blocks for me on both the mobile app and desktop website when I try to add for more than a couple of accounts.

You can still link your accounts to use for eBay purchases so could make smaller eBay purchases to generate a direct debit from each.

I noticed the OP was updated to say PayPal are possibly taking away the direct debit option. I'm assuming this is for adding money to the account only?

As far as I know it's already gone for adding money to your account. They won't take it away for bank-funded purchases as those save them a lot of money vs. card transactions and are the automatic default payment method once you set up bank funding and confirm your account.

It's still there on the mobile app.

I am in the UK. I tried to download the 'Chip and Plum' app for Android from Google Play.
Got the message, "this item is not available in your country".
I tried two different Android phones. Does anyone know a solution?

I hope not, as I will need to use PayPal's direct debit facility later this month, as one of my credit cards that I've kept open to produce a direct debit won't be producing one, as I had to obtain a refund on the item I bought with it!
Moral of this story: use a credit card at least twice per statement period in case you need to claim a refund on an item.

On a similar theme, beware of refunds from purchases made in previous billing periods being applied in subsequent billing periods.

Not long ago I had a refund on an unusually large purchase on one of my DD generating cards, the refund just missed the statement cutoff so appeared as a credit on the following month's statement. I caught it just in time to make some additional purchases on that card to bring me back into debit.
