You can make a scone-base pizza in a frying pan - recipe is in Delia Smith's Cookery Course. Haven't got it to hand at the moment but no doubt someone will be along in a minute with it.0

Try the Jamie Oliver Pizza Fritta http://www.jamieoliver.com/recipes/pizza-recipes/fried-pizza-fritta. Yummy. You're supposed to gril it at the end to melt the cheese but could skip this step if needed.Debt at LBM (17/10/08) £5727.61 Debt free date 31/08/090

A cheap alternative is to make pitta pizzas.
Toast the pitta bread (morrisons, 19p for 6, can freeze them).
Spread with tomato puree, add some mozzarella (you keep this in freezer too), snippets of ham etc. and put under grill.
Quick, easy, tasty, uses up small bits of peppers etc at the end of a week.0 -
Shirley Goode did a fryingpan pizza recipe, this is the link to her blog, http://shirleygoode.blogspot.com/
the recipe may be on there, but if not I'm sure she'll answer you if you ask her about it.

Shirley's blog is at (No www) http:// shirleygoode dot blogspot dot com
She is usually very good(e) about telling you where on her blog the specific recipe is. She writes every day and usually replies to every query. I've been reading her for about a year now...
Apologies, as a newbie I can't post links0 -
Thanks for that knithryn, I can post links I'm just too daft to actually remember to.

Anyone done this? I imagine there are quite a few!
I'm thinking of attempting this as I imagine it would be a LOT cheaper than the ready made ones...
Is it just a case of base, then tomato puree then toppings?

There are loads of recipes online - I make my own base which is just:
500g strong flour
1 sachet yeast, about 2tbsp oil, pinch salt and pepper, and slowly add water to make dough the right texture.
Topping - tin of cheap tomatoes, little onion(optional), whatever herbs you like (basil and oregano are good, sometimes add a little chilli for a spicier sauce) and a little garlic. Cook onion first if using it, then add everything else and let it cook for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally. the sauce will thicken up and the tomatoes will just break apart.
Then add whatever toppings you fancy. Costs pennies and tastes fab. My hubby didn't believe you could make pizza at home (men eh!)0 -
If i want to make a quick pizza. I use french bread as a base:rotfl:0
