I would say yes to both cornflour and boiling it for a bit longer. If I'm feeling really lazy I just use tomato puree. Thinking about it, you could put some of that into your sauce to thicken it up a bit!0

My sauce contains; Tin chopped tomatoes, big squirt of tom puree, big shake of basil, enough garlic.
i tried searching for the cheap pizza recipe (I think it was catalina's) but couldnt find it. Can anyone help, please?Threadhead0 -
I'm pretty sure her recipe was in the middle of one of the pizza threads rather than a thread she started. Is it not in any of the threads I just linked for you?Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. Made another Pizza today. I bought a proper pizza tray from Woolworths recently so thought I would try it out. I made the pizza dough in the Bread Maker as normal and then rolled it out. For the base sauce I used a tin of tomatoes simmered down to a thick sauce. I added half a teaspoon of mixed spices and a pinch of salt to the sauce whilst it was cooking. It turned out really nice and very tasty indeed.
Ingredients for the topping…
Lots of grated cheddar cheese – about 4 ounces
Two sliced tomatoes
Lots of chopped black olives
Lots of chopped up salami – about 4 ounces
It was then cooked in the oven for about 15 minutes on gas mark 7 as per the bread maker cookbook instructions. I don’t eat Pizzas with a ruler…hee hee… its just in the photograph to show the size of the beast. I tried to do an accurate cost of making the pizza but it’s very difficult so my best estimate for the total cost is something less that £2.50.The £2 Coin Savers Club = £346.00 (£300.00 transferred to Savings a/c)

What an excellent idea, using naan bread for the base. I don't have a b/m (I did but gave it away  ), so a naan would be a really easy alternative. Who said pizzas have to be round?
The original poster's recipe sounds great too. We'd skip the salami as husband is veggie, but we have sometimes sliced up a cold veggie sausage or two, which gives the same result. Sainsbury's meat-free hotdogs (in the freezer section) are excellent for this, and taste just like the real thing.I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe

Hi we get the pizza mix from tesco's (about 70p) use tomato puree then a sprinkle with italian herbs then a sprinkle of mozzarella then topping of choice (mine is tuna, black olive, onion, mushroom and red pepper) then top with more mozzerella pop in oven for about 10 min. yumm
just eaten it Kids also love it!!:wave:0 -
If you are desperate and do not have a bread maker you can make a plain scone base leaving out the sugar, roll out, brush with oil and then put on the sauce and topping bake for 15 minutes at Reg 7.

Try using muffins to make mini pizzas! They just need grilling and are great for lunchboxes0
